Jay's POV
His eyebrows frowned.
My eyes widened.
"Keifer...?" I called.
No response.
"Keifer..." I called again.
"Da?" Kade asked confused.
But keifer was still.
The frown was still there but he wasn't moving.
"Keifer.... please wakeup... We are waiting.. Kade is Waiting... He is waiting for his dada to wake up" I whispered desperate while my tears were falling continue.
"Ma..."
I looked at Kade who was looking at me with worried expression.
My heart tighten even more.
I took a deep breath and wipe my tears and Force a smile.
"Mama is fine, baby. Dada is fine.... And will be more fine" I said forcing a smile.
Just than the door opened and there stood mama Reyes and papa.
"Oh my.." she gasped and run towards me and took me in her arms.
I broke down.
Papa took Kade from me while mama was consoling me.
I was sobbing like a child.
"Mama... What is happening... Why is it happening??...we were happy, he was fine...then why..." I said between sobbing my voice breaking as my breath became uneven.
"I couldn't.... I can not live without him... Tell him to wake up " I said and my knees gave up and I fall on the floor.
Mame hugged me.
"Shh... He'll be fine. He'll be fine. You know that" she said cupping my face.
"What did doctor say?" She asked.
Just then I realized that I didn't know what doctor said.
I quickly stood up or at least try to quickly stood up but my body felt too weak.
"Percy," I said.
"He knows what doctor said" I said and run out of the room.
He was standing with papa talking something.
I didn't even realize papa walk out of the room with Kade.
"Percy!" I called and run to him.
He turned to look at me.
"Hey.. baby sister slow down " he said tried to calm me down.
"What did doctor said?" I asked him.
He was quite for a moment....then.
"He's stable " finally he said
Stable? Really? That's it?
"He'll be fine, right?" I asked hopefully.
His eyes soften.
"Yeah. He will" he said pulled me in a hug.
I started crying again.
Just then I heard a cry.
"Ma...ma...mama...da..dada" I quickly pulled away looking for Kade. He was crying reaching for me while papa was rocking him gently.
"It's okay young man, we are here" but Kade was looking at me starching his arms out.
I walked over and took him in my arms.
He buried his face in the crook of my neck.
We both cried together.
"Jay... Don cry. You are scaring him" mama said.
I realized that I'm too focused on my pain that I didn't realize he needs me. I'm the only one for him right now. If I become weak he'll break too.
I looked down at Kade.
His tiny fingers were gripping my shirt tightly.
Like he was scared I would disappear too.
My chest hurt.
Really hurt.
I kissed his forehead and hugged him closer.
"I'm sorry..." I whispered.
I don't even know if I was saying it to Kade.
Or myself.
Or Keifer.
Kade sniffled and looked at me with his teary eyes.
"Mama..."
I forced another smile and wiped his little cheeks.
"I'm okay, baby..." I whispered.
Lie.
Big lie.
Huge lie.
I wasn't okay.
I felt like someone was squeezing my heart with their hands.
Mama slowly rubbed my back.
"Sit down first, anak..." she said softly.
I nodded.
My legs were shaking.
I sat down on the chair while Kade stayed in my arms.
He wasn't letting go.
Not even a little.
Papa sat beside me quietly.
Nobody spoke.
Because what can they even say?
The silence felt too loud.
Too scary.
Kade suddenly lifted his head.
"Dada?"

My breathing stopped.
He looked around.
"Dada?"
Then at me.
"Dada?"
I bit my lip hard.
No.
No no no no.
Please.
Not that.
Not now.
I kissed his hair immediately.
"Dada is sleeping, baby..." I whispered.
Kade stared at me for few seconds.
Then looked at the room Keifer was in.
"Dada..."
His little voice became smaller.
Then he suddenly started moving in my arms.
He wanted to go.
To Keifer.
I quickly stood up.
"I'll take him."
Nobody stopped me.
Nobody said anything.
I walked back towards Keifer's room.
Step.
Step.
Step.
Every step felt heavy.
When I entered, Keifer was still there.
Still not moving.
Still sleeping.
Still making me feel scared.
I walked slowly beside him and sat down.
Kade immediately reached for him.
Tiny hands.
Tiny fingers.
He touched Keifer's hand.
"Dada..." he called softly.
...
Nothing.
Kade blinked.
Then looked confused.
He touched his face this time.
"Dada."
Then suddenly—
he smiled.
Actually smiled.
And leaned his little body against Keifer's arm.
Like this was normal.
Like his dada was just sleeping.
My tears started falling again.
Because Kade didn't understand.
He didn't understand why everyone was crying.
He just knew his dada was here.
And that his dada always wakes up.
So in his tiny little world...
Keifer would wake up too.
I looked at Keifer.
Then held his hand tightly.
"Keifer..." I whispered while crying quietly.
"Look..."
"Kade is waiting..."

It's night and kade had fallen asleep and I'm sitting on the couch staring at keifer.
The machine is making soft sounds.
Beep.
Beep.
Beep.
Percy came and sit beside me.
"Mom and dad had gone home" he said.
I just nodded.
"Here" he said giving me a paper bag.
"What is it?" I asked open the bag. It was food. Two burgers and fries.
"I don't have appetite" I said giving him back th bag.
"Jay, you didn't eat anything. Please eat. If not for you , for Kade" he said looking at me. "He needs you the most" he said looking at my eyes.
I looked down at Kade who was sleeping on my lap.
I sighed and took a bite from burger. I eat a burger. Enough food so I won't collapse.
"Give him here" Percy said and took Kade from me.
He stirred a little bit than comfortably sleep on his shoulder.
Despite everything a small smile appeared on my face.
"I've got him" he said.
I nodded.
I stood up walked towards keifer.
I ran my hand in his hair and kissed his forehead.
"Wake up soon. I'm waiting. Kade is Waiting" I whispered and kissed his lips softly.
I drag a chair beside his bed and sat on the chair holding his hand.
I kissed his hand and pressed it against my cheek.
"Don't make us wait too much" I whispered and again kissed his hand again.
