Meanwhile, in a faraway land called Bargest, a pink-haired woman walked the dark, barely lit path in the forest as she made her way towards her quest.
"Kill the troll who has been terrorising the villagers..." She looked at the quest paper in her hand.
"Reward of 10 gold, this should do for the month..."
"I should be able to do this without them." The woman muttered to herself as she walked towards her destination. She continued her path and eventually saw bright flames from a distance, wondering what was happening. She ran to the area to get a better view, only to see a towering, immense humanoid creature next to a group of people who seemed to be trying to fend it off using farming equipment.
"That's the troll..."
"And it's trying to kill the villagers!"
She ran towards the monster at an incredible speed, unsheathing her longsword as she leapt towards its neck, rotating her blade so that it could clean the troll's head clean off.
"Take this!"
The woman swung her blade at the monster's neck. With a simple swing, its head fell off its shoulders, surprising the scared villagers. She proceeded to swing her blade to remove the blood stuck on it before making her way towards the villagers.
"Is everyone alright?" She asked
"Y-yes, thank you!" A villager replied as they all cheered her on. The village head asks her to stay for a bit, as the other villagers wanted to reward her with something as a thanks for saving their home, which she gladly accepts.
"Follow me"
As she followed the village head to a small wooden house, the old man asked her a question.
"You're a demon, aren't you?"
!!
"How did he know?" The woman wondered to herself
"Well, that you are doesn't matter to me at all, but I would recommend you not to stand out too much, because this land has quite many problems with demons, especially because of the war between the holy empire and the demon empire."
"...I see, thank you for your advice."
The man looked around for a few seconds before taking what seemed to be a small box and giving it to her. Inside it was a necklace with a clear gem inside. It was beautiful, which made her wonder if she should really keep this.
"This gem has more than beauty to it. It has the ability to detect the slightest bit of evil in a being."
"It used to belong to my wife when she was still alive and working for the mage tower, but I didn't know what to do with it, so I kept it in a box and put it on my desk."
"I can't take this..." She said, as she felt guilt for taking his wife's necklace.
"No, it's alright, she died almost 40 years ago, I needed to give it to someone who seemed to need it anyway."
...
"I see, then I'll take it."
"Thank you." The old man said as both went out to meet the rest of the village that had started a party to celebrate the adventurer for defeating the troll, which put a small smile on her face.
"Maybe I can stay here a little bit."
A few hours later, she made her way back to the adventurer's guild in Bargest with the troll's head for confirmation and was getting a lot of attention from the adventurers around her. As she made her way up the well-decorated and white and gold walls of the place, she made her way to the guild receptionist and handed her the head.
"A troll this time?"
"Last time it was a griffon, now a troll." The receptionist says.
"Yeah, I'll be waiting for my reward." The adventurer replied.
"No need to wait."
"Why?"
"Your party members are waiting for you on the upper floor."
Surprised by the sudden news, the adventurer walked the golden white stone stairs to the second floor and looked around the hall for her party mates. Multiple tables could be seen where dozens of people were sitting and having conversations, when a woman's shout could be heard from her left ear.
"Lylia, over here!"
!!!
"Oh, Penelope!"
Lylia made her way to her party's table, where she sat next to Penelope and three other people: Merc, who was considered the party's tank due to how strong and durable he is, Klaus, the assassin and Gilbert, the sniper who attacks from a distance next to Penelope, the group's magic archer.
"How's it going, Lylia?" Merc asked.
"Good, I just recently did a quest to take down a troll, the receptionist said I didn't have to wait for the rewards since you were already here."
"Talk about your rewards, here it comes," Klaus says as a man dressed in a black suit walked to her with a small bag in his hand and handed it to her, claiming it is the 10 gold she was promised for completing the quest.
Ooooh..
"10 gold, how nice..." Penelope said as she looked at Lylia with sparkling eyes.
"..Stop looking at me like that, I'm not sharing." She coldly said.
"Aw, come on..."
"You remember the time when we were about to be attacked by robbers, and I saved you from their grasp?"
"Then I told you that you could pay me back when I needed it?"
"That never happened." She said, quickly denying her claims, annoying her slightly.
Tch!
"Anyways, what do you guys plan to do? Any dungeons to raid?"
"Don't know, didn't think about it yet," Gilbert said while polishing his rifle.
"Well, we could think about it while we go to get food, what do y'all think?" Merc said with a grin on his face, and the entire party agreed to his idea.
As they made their way out of the adventurer's guild, Lylia wondered to herself what Jill and the others were doing right now.
