Chapter 86 - Quick Day

We finished talking about Aerial and drove the rest of the distance talking about other things.

Once we arrived home we went through the usual steps and went to sleep.

While laying there I started to think if I was doing the right thing, with my ability, with Layla, and with my family.

I hadn't really upgraded anything that crazy in a while. I did upgrade the cars but that didn't really go anywhere, yet. Perhaps I've gotten too used to quick improvements and making money.

I feel like I haven't done anything of that much value in a while. I guess I have, it is just in an invested value, where I will reap the rewards later.

I also feel like I haven't done anything that romantic with Layla. I guess I did just have a "date" day with her today. But, I would have preferred spending more quality time with her. Though, I know she doesn't want to be pressured to do anything like that.

As for my family, they are all leaving for another country. But, to be fair, they decided to do that, and I have to live my own life. I can't keep revolving my life around theirs.

I have done what I should to be filial, it's time to live my own life.

With those thoughts I drifted off to sleep.

The next morning it was Thursday, which means that some of the machinery will be delivered tomorrow.

I think I'm going to have to find a place to put them for a few days before I can get them on site.

Because the foundation and cement hasn't even been fully poured, let alone the buildings. There simply isn't a place to put them. Ugh, why isn't the timing right?

Why does it feel like everything is just taking forever to do?

You know what? I need to just do things and stop just thinking about them.

I got out of bed with determination to have a fulfilling day.

But just as fast I realized that I didn't get enough experience yesterday for the McLoud, which means the plans I just made are dashed immediately.

That's fine, I can just do them tomorrow.

Wait! I can't. Tomorrow machinery will be delivered. Then, what, Saturday? Ugh, that's fine. It'll have to be.

I got ready to take Layla to the warehouse and afterward I could go to the track.

When we were ready to go I asked her what she was going to work on today. She said that she was going to look into the Cancry's engine, since that was the only thing she really could do.

I dropped her off at the warehouse and made my way over to the track.

Once at the track I saw that Aerial was there along with the blonde boy from before. I waved at Aerial and then I minded my own business.

Aerial may be absolutely stacked and a complete knockout but I had Layla, and I wasn't going to go out of my way to make conversation with someone I had no real interest in.

Since I decided to mind my own business for the day, it passed swiftly.

I left the track with some daylight left. I only needed a few hours, but with lunch and the shorter days I didn't have much time.

I got the experience I needed and was able to upgrade the car on the way back.

The car got a significant boost to the horse power and top speed while the efficiency only got a small increase.

Which is exactly what I wanted from the car and the upgrade.

I got back to the warehouse and saw that the concrete was all poured. When I asked Layla about it she said that they left around lunch. That they had actually done most of it yesterday and were taking it easy today.

Apparently, what was taking up most of the time was the rebar. Once the rebar was in they had a truck dump a lot of the quick dry concrete which sped up the process.

This was a welcomed sight but the machinery getting delivered tomorrow will be heavy and the concrete will not have full set. At least not set enough for a substantial load.

I might be able to delay putting in down until the afternoon to give it a better chance of not cracking. But, we will have to see tomorrow.

Layla and I drove home and instead of ending the day doing the usual. We decided to watch a movie or two.

Yeah, we stayed up way too late watching all of the AlloyMan movies. What can I say, he is our favorite hero from that verse.

Both of us being anime enjoyers left us with tons of heroes or anti-heroes to straight up villains to love.

So, we cuddled up on the couch together and watched our movies, long into the night.

We both were up a little later than usual the next day. Today was partly cloudy with light wind and the temperature was higher than average for around this time of year.

Which was good news to me, it meant the concrete would dry faster.

While having breakfast I asked about how she was coming along with the car parts from yesterday.

Layla replied, "It is actually going very well, I came up with a lot of ideas. Some ended terribly, others actually had some benefits. They were minor improvements but I think with a few more days of study and actually seeing the insides, I will be able to go a lot farther. Especially with whatever the fast car has been modified with."

Me, "I agree. You only have access to what the parts look like from the outside and guess work. The fact that you have made progress with only that much shows just how much talent you actually have."

Layla, "Thank you. But I feel like anyone with enough experience could do at least this much."

Me, "Don't sell yourself short. The major corporations are only so far ahead because they have a ton of people working for them. You did this by yourself."

Layla, "I, guess, that's true…"
