"Hah! I knew a greedy guy like you wouldn't agree!"
The Genie let out a long sigh, looking helpless.
Its name was the Genie. But wasn't it just a pitiful soul too?
In fact, it was just like the Gatekeeper, one of the losers of that battle back then.
And in the end, a grand Archmage like it had been trapped inside this so called magic lamp, told to wait for a hero to arrive. As long as it fulfilled the hero's wishes, it would regain its freedom.
For that, it had waited bitterly for hundreds of years, waiting for the hero to show up.
And what happened?
What did this damned hero do?
His first wish was to have another hundred wishes granted. What kind of sick joke was that?
But it had been set up so that it couldn't refuse the hero's wishes, unless it truly had no way to fulfill them. If it casually rejected a wish, it would be punished.
To avoid punishment, it could only grit its teeth and agree.
Anyway, as long as it finished granting a hundred wishes, it would be free.
'Just endure it.'
But who could have guessed, this so called hero in front of it, after making a bunch of wishes it couldn't fulfill, actually added another hundred wishes. Was he insane or what?
'Is he sick in the head?'

"I fought my way all the way to this stage. If I don't take some interest back, how can that be fair?", Ethan stroked his chin and raised an eyebrow, "And you've got the nerve to talk about me. You're a mighty Genie, and this you can't do, that you can't do. Then what's the point of you?"
"If you really can't do it, then hurry up and swap out!"
"Help me find the dragon from Dragon Ball. I'll talk to it instead, and then you can get lost!"
Ethan thought about it.
These wish granting gods should all be from the same line. They must know each other.
Since this one can't do this and can't do that, might as well change to another god to negotiate with.
It's like seeing a doctor. One doctor says it won't work, you immediately switch to another.
Maybe you're not even sick after all.
Same logic.
"Seven what Dragon Ball?", The Genie looked confused, "What's that? Some bead from the dragon race? I do have one of those. That wish I can grant."
With that, the Genie pointed at the void.
A bead shining with five colored light dropped from midair.
Plop!
Ethan was overjoyed and hurried forward to pick it up.
But when the thing that fell into his hands came into view, his face fell, "Five colored beast core?"
"This isn't the Dragon Ball I asked for at all, you fake god!"
"You don't even know what the Seven Dragon Balls are, and you call yourself a wish granting genie?"
"Damn it!"
"…"
The Genie, who had just been secretly pleased with itself, thinking it finally had some use and could at least fulfill some small wishes.
Hearing Ethan's rant, it immediately flew into a rage, "This is a Dragon Ball. This is the only kind of Dragon Ball I have here! If you don't want it, give it back!"
"Something that's already in my hands, and you still want it back?"
Ethan quietly put the five colored beast core into his tail ring, sticking to the principle of squeezing whatever he could. He looked at the Genie and said, "Even though this isn't the Dragon Ball I wanted, forget it!"
"Better than nothing!"
"Then I'll make a wish for a hundred Dragon Balls!"
"That wish I can't grant," After arguing with Ethan, the Genie couldn't even be bothered to keep up its mysterious image anymore. It simply dug its nose and said, "Change to another wish!"
(* ̄ǒ ̄)
"Damn. You don't even have a hundred beast cores, and you still dare to set up a wish stall?"
Ethan shot it a look of contempt.
The Genie's eyes were practically rolling into the sky. It took a deep breath, suppressing its anger, "Right! I don't have a hundred beast cores. So what?"
"You think I wanted to set up this damn wish stall?"
"I'm forced by life too, okay!"
"I'm going back to sleep!"
"Stop bothering me!"
┌( ಠ_ಠ)┘
Hearing that the Genie was going back to sleep, Ethan quickly stopped it, "Wait!!"
Just now, he had caught a tiny clue in the Genie's words. This mist like fellow had said it didn't have a hundred beast cores.
'That means, it very likely has ninety nine?'
'Or fewer?'
'Let's try it.'
"What now!", The Genie snapped impatiently, "If you're going to make a wish, hurry up. If not, get lost. I can't be bothered talking to you."
"Right, I want to make a wish."
Ethan stroked his chin and began using the bargaining tricks of a sly merchant to pry information out of the Genie, "I wish for ninety nine five colored beast cores."
"That wish I can't grant. Change to another."
"Then I want eighty nine five colored beast cores!"
"That wish I can't grant. Change to another."
"Then I want forty nine five colored beast cores!"
"That wish I can't gra… huh!", The Genie froze halfway through its sentence, "How did you know I have forty nine five colored beast cores?"
"Haha! I knew I'd test it out," Ethan's face lit up, "Simple. I guessed the number of five colored beast cores you have should be a whole number. If you took one out and gave it to me, then you should have forty nine left. So I casually guessed a number with nine in it."
"If you still said no, I would've lowered it to nineteen, then finally down to nine."
"One of those numbers would hit eventually, right?"
"Hahaha!"
"Enough talk. Hand them over!"
"…"
(︶︹︺)━☞✨
The Genie, looking extremely displeased, pointed at the void again. Immediately, forty nine five colored beast cores fell from midair like hailstones.
Clatter! Clatter!
Bang! Bang! Crack!
Only after the chaotic noise ended did Ethan walk over to where the beast cores had fallen. With a sweep of his hand, he collected every single one of them.
The Genie, standing to the side, looked completely worn out, "Go on. What other wishes do you have? Say them all at once. I'm tired. I'm going back to rest." [T/N: At this point, just ask for what are the most valuable wishes the genie can grant.]
"Damn! You've still got the nerve to rest? Have you ever considered that everyone works 996? You've just started work for less than half an hour and you're already going back to sleep?", Ethan exploded in anger, "Can you face the boss who pays you? Can you face this job that gives you food and lodging and lets you have fun?"
"That actually sounds kind of reasonable…"
The Genie seriously thought about it for two seconds, then immediately smashed something and roared, "Reasonable my foot!"
"I'm locked in here, okay? When have I ever been paid? Every day I just wait for that so called hero to arrive. All I can do is sit around. I can't do anything!"
"I can't even leave this damn place. All I can do is wait every single day for some cursed hero to show up!"
"You want this job? I'll give it to you!"
"Make a wish right now. Take the position immediately. Food and lodging included. You won't even work more than one minute a day. Come on then!"
