Chapter 87 Dark Demon Evil God Tiger
Yu Xiaogang's Luo Sanpao was a mutated beast-type martial soul. Although it couldn't fully possess the body like most beast spirits, it was still fundamentally different from a tool-type martial soul.
When he had hunted the Mandala Snake for Tang San years ago, Luo Sanpao was poisoned after being bitten. And now, unbelievably, Yu Xiaogang intended to give Luo Sanpao a poisonous attribute.
Luo Ling chuckled. He was actually looking forward to seeing what kind of "transformation" would occur once poison was added to that ridiculous soul.
Through the eyes of a crow, Luo Ling watched Yu Xiaogang and Flender leave their lodging. Then he summoned Ghost Douluo to accompany him toward the Star Dou Forest as well.
He, too, was seeking a spirit ring. Keeping track of Yu Xiaogang was just a side task—one crow was enough for that.
"Your Highness, I'll search the area for dark-attribute soul beasts. Please stay alert," Ghost Douluo said respectfully before flashing out of sight.
Luo Ling also extended his spiritual sense, releasing dozens of crows in every direction to scout the surroundings.
He had entered the mixed region of the Star Dou Forest, teeming with ten-thousand-year beasts. Just a bit farther ahead lay the core zone—territory of beasts above fifty thousand years.
That was where Xiao Wu's guardians, Da Ming and Er Ming, resided.
But Luo Ling didn't intend to overreach. The core area was far too dangerous—and unnecessary for his current goal.
As he walked, a deafening tiger's roar suddenly echoed across the forest.
The cry sent birds and beasts fleeing in all directions. Luo Ling turned toward the source and instantly felt a surge of dark, malevolent energy.
Such power radiated a sinister pull—his own soul power even hungered in response.
"What is that?" he muttered.
Before he could investigate, Ghost Douluo reappeared beside him.
"Your Highness, ahead there's a nearly hundred-thousand-year Human-Faced Demon Spider fighting a tiger-type soul beast that's under fifty thousand years."
Luo Ling's eyes lit up. "Tell me, what does the tiger-type beast look like?"
Ghost Douluo paused, thinking. "Jet black from head to tail, with crimson eyes. Its body length… about seven or eight meters. But unlike normal tigers, its tail is formed of segmented bones ending in a hooked barb."
Luo Ling's gaze sharpened, a spark of recognition flashing within.
The Dark Demon Evil God Tiger.
He immediately recalled the beast's name. That was one of the top-tier creatures in the entire world of soul beasts—the very same Tang San would one day encounter in the original tale.
And right now, it was still under fifty thousand years old.
The Dark Demon Evil God Tiger was said to have been born when an Evil God's will descended upon a white tiger. Its strength was monstrous. It could devour other beasts to evolve rapidly, its power multiplying exponentially.
Even below fifty thousand years of age, it could fight on par with a hundred-thousand-year soul beast.
"Your Highness, are you planning to hunt that tiger?" Ghost Douluo asked cautiously.
"Is there a problem?" Luo Ling replied lightly.
"No problem at all. It's a perfect match for your fifth spirit ring since it's dark-attribute," Ghost Douluo said seriously. "But if you intend to claim it, we must hurry. It's currently locked in battle with that near hundred-thousand-year Human-Faced Demon Spider. If we arrive too late, the spider might kill it."
Luo Ling laughed softly. "No need to worry, Uncle Ghost. The Dark Demon Evil God Tiger is no ordinary creature. Whether it or the spider survives is far from decided."
Ghost Douluo's expression shifted in surprise. "You… know what kind of soul beast it is?"
"Of course," Luo Ling said calmly. "The Dark Demon Evil God Tiger—one of the highest-ranked soul beasts, touched by the power of the Evil God itself. Its combat ability is unmatched; even a ten-thousand-year-old one can rival a hundred-thousand-year opponent."
As he spoke, the darkness around Ghost Douluo trembled subtly. The idea of a ten‑thousand‑year soul beast rivaling a hundred‑thousand‑year one was beyond belief.
"If you doubt me, come see for yourself," Luo Ling said with a faint smile before dashing toward the battlefield.
Ghost Douluo followed silently.
When they arrived, the scene took their breath away.
Around them, countless trees had been pulverized. White webs clung to everything like silk traps. The ground was scarred with enormous craters still steaming from violent bursts.
Amid the devastation stood two towering monsters—the Dark Demon Evil God Tiger and the Human-Faced Demon Spider.
One of the spider's legs had already been severed, while the tiger, astonishingly, bore no visible wounds at all.
Ghost Douluo finally understood Luo Ling's earlier words; his disbelief gave way to awe.
This beast, not yet fifty thousand years old, was fighting with terrifying might—comparable to a true hundred‑thousand‑year creature.
The battle raged on. Luo Ling entered his Martial Soul Fusion state, preparing quietly.
Judging from the current exchange, the Dark Demon Evil God Tiger would likely triumph. Still, he planned to weaken it during the melee.
He knew the creature possessed a unique power—to drag its opponent into a separate space.
Inside that space, both combatants would revert to their juvenile forms, and only one could emerge alive.
Luo Ling's plan was simple: force the tiger to use that ability, let both beasts destroy each other, then strike when the time was right.
A dark red gleam flashed in his eyes as he stared at the monstrous tiger thrashing amid the wreckage.
His spiritual threads darted swiftly toward the beast's aura, wrapping invisibly around it.
At that moment, the Dark Demon Evil God Tiger and Human-Faced Demon Spider were locked in furious combat. As the spider lunged forward, spewing webs, the tiger prepared to dodge—but suddenly, its movement slowed, even its thoughts stuttering.
A trace of confusion flashed through its crimson eyes. Its body froze mid‑step.
Sensing the opening, the Human-Faced Demon Spider lunged, rage blazing—it had been humiliated by this younger, lesser beast.
Its sharp, chitinous leg drove straight into the tiger's eye.
A deafening roar shook the forest.
The tiger convulsed, the paralysis vanishing as quickly as it came, but pain blinded its vision. Its remaining eye gleamed blood-red with fury and madness.
Venom from the spider's strike coursed through its veins, spreading fast. The Dark Demon Evil God Tiger lost all restraint.
A dense layer of gray energy exploded around its body, coalescing into a gigantic sphere that blasted forward.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
A series of thunderous detonations resounded, flattening everything in sight. Trees shattered, the earth cracked, dust and splinters churned into the sky.
But it wasn't over.
As the smoke cleared, the tiger's lone crimson eye focused coldly on the mangled body of its enemy.
Its segmented tail—the Evil God Hook—rose high, swirling dark energy that rippled violently through the air.
In the next heartbeat, a three‑meter‑wide black vortex opened in midair.
From a distance, Luo Ling and Ghost Douluo watched.
And the corners of Luo Ling's lips lifted into an intrigued smile.
