Chapter 86 Yu Xiaogang's Third Soul Ring Idea

"Tang San, your Eight Spider Lances should have other abilities, right?" Yu Xiaogang asked as he pulled Tang San to a secluded place.

He had clearly noticed how hesitant Tang San had looked earlier. After six years as his teacher, he could easily read every nuance of his student's behavior.

"You really can't hide anything from Teacher," Tang San said with a faint smile before continuing excitedly, "Teacher, I discovered that when I use the Eight Spider Lances to absorb flesh and blood, not only can I repair the destroyed limbs, but my soul power also increases!"

Yu Xiaogang showed no surprise. Instead, he nodded knowingly.

Devouring flesh to grow stronger—that ability belonged entirely to the Human-Faced Demon Spider.

"Tang San, never reveal this power to anyone, especially the part about gaining strength from devouring flesh," Yu Xiaogang said, his eyes serious.

"Teacher, are you worried someone might kill me for it?" Tang San asked thoughtfully.

"That's not the main concern. Unlike normal soul bones, an external soul bone becomes unusable once fully fused, even if someone kills you."

"What I'm worried about," Yu Xiaogang said, his tone turning grave, "is your ability to strengthen yourself by devouring flesh. In the world of soul masters, such powers are considered taboo."

Tang San's eyes widened, puzzled.

"Devouring the corpses of soul beasts is one thing," Yu Xiaogang continued, "but if you ever absorb human or soul master flesh, and people find out, you'll be branded an evil soul master—hunted across the continent."

"So, never show this power publicly, even when devouring beasts. Keep it hidden."

"If anyone learns about this, they'll fear and reject you. No one would trust that you haven't consumed humans."

Tang San finally understood the gravity of the situation and nodded solemnly.

"Good," Yu Xiaogang said, his tone softening. "As long as you don't use that devouring ability openly, no one will ever know."

He nodded again, thinking for a moment but deciding not to tell Tang San about the Blood Demon Ritual.

"Also, I'll be going to the Star Dou Forest soon. I've reached level thirty and need a new soul ring." Turning around, he added, "I'll arrange your training before I leave. Stay in Soto City and practice with the others."

With that, he walked back toward Shrek Village.

Tang San followed quietly behind.

High above them, a black crow watched everything unfold.

In Soto City's restaurant, Luo Ling sat silently, a faint smile curving his lips. So, Yu Xiaogang hadn't stopped Tang San from absorbing flesh to enhance his strength—he'd merely told him to keep it hidden.

It had to be linked to the Blood Demon Ritual.

He withdrew his perception. Yu Xiaogang was heading to the Star Dou Forest for a new ring, and coincidentally, Luo Ling was at level fifty himself—it was time to go there too.

Over the next few days, Yu Xiaogang arranged basic training for the Shrek Seven Devils: endurance drills and daily sparring. Nothing innovative, nothing surprising.

Three days later, after giving his final instructions, Yu Xiaogang set off for the Star Dou Forest with Flender.

At the same time, Luo Ling departed with Ghost Douluo.

"Your Highness, have you truly reached level fifty?" Ghost Douluo asked as their carriage rattled along.

"Ghost Uncle, you've asked that at least five times. Didn't you already verify my soul power yourself?" Luo Ling replied helplessly, though he understood the disbelief.

After all, he had advanced four levels in one sudden leap.

Ghost Douluo turned away, still wearing an expression of mild existential crisis.

Level fifty at thirteen years old—Luo Ling had once again rewritten talent itself.

Luo Ling ignored his companion's shocked silence and turned to gaze out the window.

His eyes unfocused slightly as his consciousness shifted elsewhere.

Three kilometers away, another carriage rolled down the same road—Flender and Yu Xiaogang chatting cheerfully, bound for the Star Dou Forest.

Overhead, a crow flew above them, unseen yet ever watchful.

By the time they reached the forest, a full day had passed.

With night falling, both pairs—Yu Xiaogang and Flender, Luo Ling and Ghost Douluo—found inns to rest in.

"Tomorrow, I'll trouble you to help me look for a dark‑type soul beast between forty and fifty thousand years old," Luo Ling said, settling onto his bed.

"Forty to fifty thousand years?" Ghost Douluo frowned deeply.

Most Soul Kings could only withstand spirit rings of around fifteen thousand years. Forty to fifty thousand years was the upper limit even for Soul Sages!

"Your Highness, your fourth ring was over twenty thousand years. Are you sure it's safe to jump straight to fifty thousand?"

"Ghost Uncle," Luo Ling chuckled, "have I ever done anything without confidence?"

Ghost Douluo hesitated, then nodded slowly.

Night passed quickly.

Yu Xiaogang slept soundly—perhaps for the first time in many years. He felt at peace, his recent breakthrough and the Blood Demon Ritual offering hope of finally shedding the label of mediocrity.

"Xiaogang, have you decided what kind of beast to target for your third spirit ring?" Flender asked over breakfast.

Yu Xiaogang's martial soul was peculiar—a beast‑type with independent consciousness. Flender couldn't imagine what kind of ring would even suit it.

A proud smile curved Yu Xiaogang's lips. He had planned this for years.

Luo Sanpao's first ability launched enemies away, while the second had a hypnotic effect.

For his third, Yu Xiaogang intended to give Luo Sanpao poison.

The idea had come to him while assigning soul skills to Tang San's Blue Silver Grass.

If Tang San's plant could have poison, why not his own spirit?

If his gas attacks carried toxins, it would be a powerful advancement—able to restrict enemies and corrode them at the same time. Perfect tactical control.

"I'll give Luo Sanpao a poison attribute, so I'll need to hunt something venomous," Yu Xiaogang said loftily. "Imagine—if my Luo Sanpao's fart carries deadly poison, it could devastate opponents."

Flender adjusted his glasses, thought about it, and actually nodded. "It makes sense. Adding toxicity would be a huge improvement."

In another room nearby, Luo Ling couldn't hold back a laugh after overhearing them.

As expected of Yu Xiaogang—the so‑called master of copied theories. To give his own martial soul poisonous gas was sheer foolishness.

Just look at Dugu Bo. Even with natural toxic resistance, he was constantly tormented by his own venom.

Tang San's martial soul was a plant—poison couldn't cling to him. But Yu Xiaogang? That was a different matter entirely.
