Chapter 90 The Evil God's Eye
Ghost Douluo stared blankly at the vertical eye glowing on Luo Ling's forehead.
He hadn't even recovered from the terrifying effects of Luo Ling's fifth soul skill before being stunned once again—this time by the newly formed external soul bone.
The external bone resembled the Dark Demon Evil God Tiger's black soul pearl almost exactly.
Luo Ling could feel its essence. It had to be that same soul pearl—what remained after part of its power became a soul ring, now refined into this external bone infused with the Evil God's mark.
"Evil God's Eye should be an appropriate name," Luo Ling said, sensing the energy pulsing within it.
"This vertical eye greatly amplifies my spiritual power—and grants me immunity to all forms of mental attack."
He continued evenly, "It also carries the Dark Demon Evil God Tiger's strongest ability—the Evil Demon Death Pact."
"It creates an isolated dimensional space that forcibly drags in its target. The space can only be undone by my will or by one side's death. Enemies trapped inside suffer erosion from the evil aura, weakening every attribute by fifty percent."
As he spoke, even Luo Ling's own expression shifted slightly in surprise.
What startled him was that the evil aura effect perfectly stacked with his fifth soul skill, Malevolent Aura, though rather than a full 100% reduction, it combined to a staggering 75%.
Still, that alone defied logic.
Ghost Douluo stood motionless, body stiff with shock, staring at Luo Ling as if at a monster.
He wasn't even sure if he could defeat Luo Ling now, even at full strength.
When Luo Ling fused his twin spirits, his power already reached the level of a Soul Emperor, nearing that of a Soul Sage. Adding this external bone and those fifth soul skills…
A cold shiver ran down Ghost Douluo's spine.
Luo Ling glanced at him and sighed softly.
The old Title Douluo was clearly shaken—and truthfully, Luo Ling couldn't blame him. His soul skills had grown absurdly overwhelming.
Perhaps… he could even contend with Tang Hao now.
His eyes darkened with thought as his mind drifted. That fifth soul skill from his Desire Spirit—wasn't it prepared precisely for Tang Hao?
…
Elsewhere in the Star Dou Forest.
Yu Xiaogang was watching as Flender battled a thousand-year soul beast—a four‑thousand‑year Mandala Snake.
Among poisonous species, the Mandala Snake ranked among the most infamous.
That same creature had been Tang San's first spirit ring. Yu Xiaogang remembered that all too clearly.
After two days of searching, he had finally found one.
Flender had strongly advised against it—the toxin of the Mandala Snake was too potent, even for experienced soul masters.
He had suggested choosing a milder poison-type beast, but Yu Xiaogang flatly refused.
His conviction was absolute. His theories had to be correct.
If Tang San's Blue Silver Grass could absorb a Mandala Snake's ring, so could his Luo Sanpao.
Not far ahead, Flender's fight was coming to an end.
With a swift dodge, he tore the snake's fangs from its jaws, then unleashed a powerful wind blade that slashed across its body, leaving deep, bloody gashes.
The Mandala Snake writhed and hissed in agony, but within moments, its movements ceased.
Flender returned to Yu Xiaogang's side, sighing as he looked down at the fallen beast.
"Are you sure about this, Xiaogang? Do you really want to absorb that thing?"
"Of course! Haven't I already explained my theory to you?" Yu Xiaogang snapped impatiently.
Seeing that persuasion was useless, Flender sighed.
"Fine. I'll guard you." He stepped back, shaking his head silently.
Yu Xiaogang, oblivious to Flender's concern, approached the serpent's massive body with excitement. Pulling a dagger from his belt, he plunged it into the wound at its seven-inch mark.
The snake hissed one final time before its eyes dimmed, its body slackening.
A purple spirit ring slowly rose above the corpse.
Without hesitation, Yu Xiaogang summoned Luo Sanpao, crossing his legs as he guided the ring toward it.
Though Luo Sanpao instinctively resisted, sensing danger, Yu Xiaogang ignored it entirely and forced the absorption to begin.
"My theory is perfect! If Tang San's Blue Silver Grass can handle it, my Luo Sanpao can too!" he muttered feverishly, closing his eyes in focused determination.
Flender could only watch warily from beside him.
…
Not far away, Luo Ling, through a crow's eyes, had already spotted the scene between Yu Xiaogang and Flender.
The sight of the Mandala Snake's corpse made him chuckle softly. The man truly was bold bordering on suicidal.
"Your Highness, aren't we heading back?" Ghost Douluo asked, puzzled.
They had been wandering the forest for quite a while, yet Luo Ling showed no sign of returning to Soto City.
"Patience, Uncle Ghost. You're about to see quite a show," Luo Ling said with a mysterious grin.
Ghost Douluo blinked but followed without question.
After about ten minutes, Luo Ling halted atop a tall tree, motioning toward the forest below.
Ghost Douluo followed his gaze and froze.
There, by a clearing, were Yu Xiaogang and Flender.
"Your Highness, how did you know they'd be here?" he asked in astonishment.
After all, they had separated days ago. Luo Ling and he had ventured near the core zones, while Yu Xiaogang remained on the periphery.
"That's not important. Just enjoy the show," Luo Ling said, waving dismissively, his eyes fixed below.
"Yu Xiaogang's absorbing a ring… do you mean to interrupt him?" Ghost Douluo asked curiously.
"I wouldn't dare interrupt such a fine experiment," Luo Ling said with mock sincerity. "I just want to see what happens when Luo Sanpao absorbs a lethal poison ring."
How would Luo Sanpao react to such venom corruption?
Ghost Douluo looked confused but stayed silent.
Moments later, Yu Xiaogang finished his absorption without incident.
He opened his eyes, face glowing with excitement.
"Well?" Flender hurried closer, relieved to see nothing amiss.
"Haha! I knew it—my theory was correct!" Yu Xiaogang shouted triumphantly.
The Mandala Snake's violet fourth ring pulsed faintly around him.
He eagerly summoned Luo Sanpao onto the grass to inspect it.
At first glance, nothing seemed amiss—only that the creature looked weaker, frailer than before.
Yu Xiaogang frowned; he assumed it was merely due to the strain of absorption. He reached into his soul tool and tossed a few carrots onto the ground.
"Eat up. Let's test our new skill!" he ordered eagerly.
Luo Sanpao listlessly nibbled the food, regaining a bit of color.
Nodding, Yu Xiaogang turned and strode toward the woods, Flender following beside him.
Unseen, Luo Ling and Ghost Douluo trailed silently behind, waiting for what would happen next.
