Chapter 89 The Terrifying Fifth Soul Ring and External Soul Bone

In the Divine Realm.

The Evil God suddenly rose from his throne, his expression flickering between emotions.

He looked ahead and saw the shadowy figure towering behind that young man.

"Primordial… so you've finally returned." His deep voice echoed with complexity. Gazing at that ominous silhouette, he seemed to reach a decision after a long pause.

"You've come for what is yours, haven't you? Very well… I will return it to you."

With a long sigh—like one released from a heavy burden—the Evil God lifted his hand and pointed at the void.

A sound like shattering glass filled Luo Ling's ears as he abruptly regained consciousness.

His vision cleared, revealing the ruined battlefield once more.

For a moment, he was dazed, uncertain if what he had seen was real. Then, a voice whispered beside his ear:

"What you seek, I return. The Nine Trials of the Evil God—First Trial: fulfill your revenge upon Yu Xiaogang."

As the voice faded, a dark-purple sigil resembling a flickering flame appeared at the center of Luo Ling's forehead, glowing briefly before vanishing.

His eyes widened in shock.

The Evil God's Nine Trials? Did he just… inherit a god's legacy?

He stood frozen in place. In the original tale of Douluo Dalu, there were only four recognized divine inheritances—Sea God, Rakshasa God, Asura God, and Angel God.

The Evil God was merely mentioned briefly, but Luo Ling knew well—he was one of the Five Great God Kings!

Why would such a divine being choose to bestow his inheritance now?

His mind raced back to the vision he had just witnessed—the handsome man had spoken the name "Primordial."

Luo Ling narrowed his eyes slightly. Five years ago, in this very forest, he had experienced something similar.

When cleansing Bibi Dong's Rakshasa corruption, he had encountered a woman—an ugly woman—who had uttered the words: "Primordial Devil."

Now the same reference appeared again.

Both the Blood Demon Ritual and the mysterious encounters revolved around that word—Primordial.

But what exactly was the Primordial? Why did beings of such power recognize him in that way?

For a moment, the thought struck him as absurd, yet it lingered like an unshakable echo in his mind.

"Your Highness." Ghost Douluo's voice broke his thoughts.

Luo Ling blinked, returning to himself. "What is it, Elder Ghost?"

"Your Highness… are you all right?"

"Me?" Luo Ling looked down. His body reeked of blood, while beneath his feet, five soul rings pulsed in rhythm—the fifth so black it shimmered faintly red.

That ring was nearly ten‑thousand‑year god‑tier in density, almost rivaling a hundred‑thousand‑year ring.

A hint of surprise crossed Luo Ling's face. He could feel immense power coursing through him as he deactivated his Martial Soul Fusion.

The near‑crimson soul ring split apart, forming two distinct black rings.

He stared in disbelief.

Fifteen minutes later, beside a quiet pool.

Luo Ling rinsed away the blood and changed into fresh clothes.

Ghost Douluo had just explained what had happened during his absorption—apparently, the Dark Demon Evil God Tiger's core pearl had also transformed into a second ring.

That process had granted Luo Ling two fully formed soul rings in one go, saving him years of cultivation and gifting him two immensely powerful soul skills.

The Scythe of Shadows evolved as well; its extreme darkness now contained a hint of pure evil.

The Crow Shadow Puppet's fifth ability—"Malevolent Aura."

It unleashed a tide of corrupt energy that eroded everything within range, weakening enemies by 50% across all abilities.

When his twin spirits fused, this power intensified further. It could even corrode the target's mind, turning them into mindless killers empowered by the same evil aura, their strength boosted another 50%.

It was both a debuff and a horrifying control ability—but those corrupted could only follow simple commands like machines of slaughter.

Even so, the skill was unrivaled—until compared to his Desire Spirit's fifth ability.

The Desire Spirit's fifth soul skill—"Soul Parasite."

Luo Ling could now condense spiritual power into seeds and plant them deep within another's soul.

Slowly, imperceptibly, the seeds would erode the host's mind. Once complete, the target would bear Luo Ling's soul mark—becoming utterly obedient, body and mind.

Unless he chose to remove the parasite himself, it would remain forever.

When in fusion mode, he could even detonate the parasite, inflicting devastating spiritual damage. The explosion would birth a new consciousness linked to the host, fighting the original soul for control—essentially causing soul possession.

The realization made Luo Ling exhale sharply. This power was too dark, too sinister.

Soul domination—he had only read of such things in cultivation stories in his previous life.

He mused quietly, analyzing. Each parasitic seed corresponded to one of his current soul rings, meaning he could govern up to nine people under his mark—or use them for possession if necessary.

These nine would need careful selection—but there was no rush. If any host died, the seed died with them, freeing space to plant another.

"Such an evil skill… no wonder the Evil God chose me for his inheritance," Luo Ling muttered with a sardonic smile. At least now, it made sense.

"Your Highness." Ghost Douluo approached cautiously once Luo Ling had finished cleaning himself.

"How was your harvest?"

Luo Ling tilted his head slightly, sensing his new power. "Not bad. My soul power's now… level fifty‑four."

He frowned. Two nearly fifty‑thousand‑year rings, yet only four levels of improvement—it felt insufficient.

Ghost Douluo, however, could barely process what he'd heard. "Level fifty‑four? You're a thirteen‑year‑old Soul King?"

Even Qian Renxue, with her innate full spirit power, had never been so terrifying.

The Holy Son's progress was simply monstrous.

Ghost Douluo's respect deepened as he asked, "Your fifth soul skills must be remarkable, then?"

Luo Ling shrugged, deliberately downplaying. "They're fine. The Crow Shadow Puppet's skill weakens everything in its range by about fifty percent. The Desire Spirit's is just a type of mental attack."

Even speaking casually, the effect struck Ghost Douluo like thunder. "…A 50% all‑stat debuff?"

He stood dumbfounded.

Before he could say more, Luo Ling added, "Oh, that reminds me. I also got an external soul bone."

He said it almost lazily, and as he spoke, a vertical eye slowly opened in the center of his forehead.
