Chapter 98 Yu Xiaogang Steals the Corpse

As soon as Luo Ling finished speaking, the black‑robed man withdrew his gaze.

"My friend," Luo Ling said casually, still smiling, "since you've already killed one of them, why not finish the other two for me as well?"

The cloaked figure hesitated—how long had it been since anyone dared talk to him like that?

Since Ah Yin's sacrifice, Tang Hao had spent years in hiding with Tang San in Holy Soul Village, drowning himself in grief and guilt.

When he looked at Luo Ling, something about the youth unsettled him. Those crimson eyes seemed to carry an inexplicable power.

After a brief silence, Tang Hao finally moved his hand. A surge of soul power crushed Bu Le and Lao E instantly, leaving nothing but bloodstains.

Luo Ling almost burst out laughing.

Tang Hao had actually listened to him. That was so unlike the famed Clear Sky Douluo.

And to think—Luo Ling was the one who had stolen the Blue Silver Emperor seed and soul bone.

Feigning gratitude, he offered Tang Hao a polite smile.

Tang Hao simply nodded once and vanished into the shadows, leaving only the shaken Shrek group behind.

They all exchanged uneasy looks until finally Oscar stepped forward hesitantly.

"Brother Ling… we…"

He trailed off, biting his lip.

"Take Dai Mubai's body back," Luo Ling said calmly. "He's dead. The dean needs to know what happened."

No one disagreed.

Oscar approached the mangled corpse, his face pale at the gruesome sight.

Luo Ling, ever thoughtful, pulled a large burlap sack from his soul tool—the same one he'd once used to carry corpses for Yu Xiaogang's experiments.

Oscar accepted it gratefully and carefully packed Dai Mubai's body inside.

Ma Hongjun lifted the unconscious Tang San, and one after another, they left the blood‑soaked alley.

Returning to Shrek Academy, Oscar and Ma Hongjun wore somber expressions.

Dai Mubai had been one of the academy's first students—no one had expected him to die such a miserable death.

Zhu Zhuqing, on the other hand, didn't seem saddened. For her, the death of her unwanted fiancé felt more like release.

When they reached Flender's office, Oscar knocked.

The door opened to reveal the dean's frowning face. Seeing the group clustered at the threshold, the burlap sack on Oscar's back, and the smell of blood in the air, Flender's expression changed instantly.

"So you're saying Dai Mubai joined forces with those outside soul masters to kill Luo Ling and Tang San—and even tried to seize Tang San's external soul bone?" Flender's voice trembled; he could hardly believe it.

On the bed, Yu Xiaogang flinched at the words, immediately asking, "Tang San—how is he?"

"He's fine, just lightly injured. Dai Mubai didn't get the chance to strike before a black‑robed man appeared and killed him," Oscar said through clenched teeth.

"Black‑robed man?"

Flender and Yu Xiaogang exchanged a sharp glance—and both knew who it had to be.

Tang Hao.

Only Tang San's secret protector could have intervened like that.

"Did that man say anything? Did you see his face?" Flender pressed.

Oscar shook his head. "No. He never spoke, and his face stayed hidden."

Flender sighed heavily after a long silence.

Dai Mubai had brought his fate upon himself. Slain by Tang Hao's hand, there would be no vengeance—nor did he deserve any.

After all, he'd been the one who struck first, trying to kill Tang San.

Flender looked down at the burlap sack still glistening with blood. "Enough. We understand what happened. You should all rest now."

He waved his hand dismissively. "Dai Mubai's death is tragic, but his greed sealed it. Go back to your dorms."

The Shrek group nodded and silently withdrew.

When the last of them left, Flender exhaled deeply. "Never thought Dai Mubai would try to kill Tang San over a soul bone…"

"He was terrified of the Star Luo throne struggle," Yu Xiaogang said coldly, eyes filled with disdain. "Too weak to compete, wasting his life chasing women—of course he'd resort to such vile methods."

Flender didn't argue. Shaking his head, he turned toward the bloody sack. "What do you think we should do with the body?"

Yu Xiaogang hesitated briefly.

"I'll bury him behind the academy," Flender answered. "Despite everything, he was still our student. He deserves proper rest."

Yu Xiaogang didn't reply.

Grabbing the sack, Flender left the room.

As his figure disappeared into the night, Yu Xiaogang's eyes narrowed.

His fingers brushed against his soul tool, then lifted to adjust his glasses. His gaze followed the sack with quiet calculation.

Midnight. Moonlight poured over the overgrown graveyard behind the academy.

Many from the nearby village were buried here—fitting that Dai Mubai now joined them.

A fresh mound rose among the old graves, its soil still damp.

From the shadows of the forest edge, a dark figure stepped forward quietly, glancing around to make sure no one was near.

Pulling out a shovel, he began to dig.

Moonlight revealed the man's face—it was Yu Xiaogang.

He worked feverishly, the rhythmic scrape of metal on earth echoing through the night. Within minutes, the corpse appeared beneath the broken soil.

The headless body looked grotesque, but Yu Xiaogang showed no trace of fear—only delight.

Grinning, he stuffed the corpse into another sack and slid it into his soul tool.

He refilled the grave meticulously, leaving the site looking undisturbed.

Only then did he glance around once more and hurry off, vanishing into the darkness.

He failed to notice a single black crow perched high above, its scarlet eyes gleaming as it silently watched his every move.

In his dormitory, Luo Ling stood by the window, gazing at the full moon with a devilish smile.

He had suspected this outcome the moment they'd returned with Dai Mubai's body.

Of course Yu Xiaogang would use it for another Blood Demon Ritual.

It was inevitable.

After tasting the intoxicating power the first time, Yu Xiaogang was addicted.

"I could endure the dark, if only I had never seen the light."

The line fit him perfectly.

Without that cursed ritual, his poor talent doomed him forever to mediocrity. How could he live with that?

Through the eyes of his crow, Luo Ling watched Yu Xiaogang's retreating silhouette fade into the trees.

The Evil God's Nine Trials—First Trial: Revenge on Yu Xiaogang.

Such an easy task, with many ways to complete it. He could kill him, dismember him, even flay him alive…

But physical pain was far too merciful.

Luo Ling wanted something worse.

He wanted Yu Xiaogang to taste despair—to crumble slowly, broken in both body and spirit.
