Chapter 99 Dai Mubai's Body Turned to Dust

Yu Xiaogang hurriedly rushed into an abandoned room, glancing around to ensure no one had followed him.

His breathing was quick, his heart pounding with excitement. This would be his second Blood Demon Ritual.

The first time had been under the guidance of that mysterious being—an unreal, dreamlike experience that still haunted him.

Now, standing inside the derelict house, Yu Xiaogang carefully shut the door and pulled a burlap sack from his soul tool. Inside was Dai Mubai's corpse.

The ritual required a body dead for less than twenty-four hours. Dai Mubai's freshly slain corpse still qualified as a sacrifice.

Recalling the previous ceremony step by step, Yu Xiaogang unwrapped a wooden stick covered in cloth.

Without hesitation, he stabbed it into Dai Mubai's torn neck and stirred violently. Only when the cloth was soaked in blood did he pull the stick free and begin to draw the formation on the ground.

Soon, a crimson circular array glowed upon the floor.

When everything was prepared, he dropped the wooden stick and dragged Dai Mubai's mutilated corpse into the center of the ritual circle.

Then he knelt within it, released his soul power, and began chanting the Blood Demon incantation.

"O Primordial God, please accept my offering."

His fervent voice echoed through the deathly silent room as the sigil beneath him ignited with a strange, pulsating crimson light.

Under that light, Dai Mubai's body slowly melted into pools of blood.

Gradually, faint streaks of scarlet energy began swirling in the air, forming illusions of Dai Mubai's face, his spirit flickering above the array.

Yu Xiaogang paid no mind, continuing the chant with fanatic devotion.

The scarlet essence gradually sank into his body, while Dai Mubai's phantom dissolved into the air.

High above, a black crow perched on the roof beam, watching the entire ritual unfold.

In the dormitory, Luo Ling observed through the crow's eyes. Suddenly, his soul quivered slightly—a mysterious surge rippled through him.

His mental power and soul energy rose perceptibly, if only by a small margin.

Luo Ling narrowed his eyes. Once could be coincidence… but twice?

Yu Xiaogang's Blood Demon Ritual was somehow strengthening him.

Why?

His pupils dimmed, thoughts deepening into shadow.

Inside the old house, Yu Xiaogang's eyes snapped open.

A wide, elated grin spread across his face. He could clearly feel his soul power had risen—two entire levels, reaching thirty‑three.

Even the pain that had plagued his lower body for weeks had faded away.

The ritual not only granted strength—it healed him.

Feeling the vitality coursing through his body, awe returned to his expression. The "Primordial God" was truly divine—granting power and restoring health alike.

Eagerly, he yanked down his trousers, only for his face to fall again in disappointment.

No change beneath the waist. None at all.

"Maybe if I offer stronger, grander sacrifices… the Primordial God will restore me completely," Yu Xiaogang muttered feverishly, his eyes filled with manic reverence.

Time flowed onward.

Shrek Academy's training routine resumed as normal. Yet the atmosphere weighed heavy—Dai Mubai's treachery still lingered like a shadow.

Tang San now knew the truth: Dai Mubai had tried to murder him for his external soul bone.

Flender hadn't hidden Dai Mubai's death, either. He confessed that the body had been buried on the mountainside—but only Luo Ling knew the truth.

The so‑called "future battle god" had met his end midway to glory, his remains forever erased by Yu Xiaogang's hand.

Two months passed quietly.

Then Yu Xiaogang announced the next stage of training.

The group assembled at Soto City's Great Spirit Arena.

"This will be your second training phase," Yu Xiaogang declared proudly. "There is no time limit. When you earn the Silver Spirit Badge, your training ends."

Since rediscovering the Blood Demon Ritual's benefits, his confidence had returned in full.

As long as the ritual continued granting power, he could keep evolving—eventually erasing the shame of being called a waste.

"You may form any teams you wish. Compete one‑on‑one, two‑on‑two, or in group battles. Team matches will be the emphasis—you must fight at least once per day."

He spoke firmly, only to see Ma Hongjun raise a hand.

"Master, there's only six of us now. We can't form a proper team anymore."

Yu Xiaogang blinked, scanning the group.

Indeed—without Dai Mubai, the "Seven Devils" were down to six.

He looked unconsciously toward Luo Ling.

"I'm a level forty‑six Soul Ancestor. The strongest among them barely reach the thirties, and two are only Great Soul Masters," Luo Ling said flatly. "If I join, the Arena will match us against Soul Ancestors. That would make training pointless for them."

He shot a sidelong glance at the others.

No one argued. Ever since Dai Mubai's betrayal, everyone had seen Luo Ling's terrifying power firsthand—the way he had slain a Soul King effortlessly.

Even without releasing full strength, he could crush them all.

Ma Hongjun, remembering that day, watched him with cautious awe. To him, Luo Ling's prowess rivaled even the mysterious Ghost Sorcerer who had appeared months ago.

Yu Xiaogang sighed in defeat. "Very well. Begin with one‑on‑one and two‑on‑two matches for now. I'll find a solution for team fights later."

Luo Ling merely shrugged. He didn't care; his interest lay elsewhere—one day, he fully intended to cross blades with Tang San himself, to seize the secrets of the Mysterious Heaven Technique.

"Master, do we—Rongrong and I, as support‑types—also need to earn Silver Spirit Badges?" Oscar asked.

"You two can fight in pairs. You must also attain your Silver Badges," Yu Xiaogang replied, voice indifferent.

Ning Rongrong's eyes sparkled. She immediately clung to Luo Ling's arm.

"Brother Ling," she said pitifully, her voice playful, "you wouldn't abandon your poor little cousin, would you?"

Yu Xiaogang said nothing but silently approved. A match between Luo Ling and Ning Rongrong as partners could benefit them both—and perhaps he could persuade Luo Ling to officially join the Shrek Seven.

He was also curious. Everyone said Luo Ling was powerful, but Yu Xiaogang had only ever glimpsed him fight Tang San—and that hardly counted as combat.

If Luo Ling truly faced twin Soul Ancestors, it would be the perfect chance to watch his capabilities closely.

Nearby, Oscar glanced between Ning Rongrong and Luo Ling, envy flickering in his eyes.

With Luo Ling as her teammate, even two Soul Ancestors wouldn't stand a chance.

All he could do was sigh and look pleadingly at the remaining few.
