Chapter 128: Ice and Fire Dragon Kings
Luo Ling's words came out one after another, each carrying a strange undertone. Ah Yin's soul form trembled more and more violently with every sentence.
Hidden within Luo Ling's voice was the power of the Soul of Desire, continuously casting subtle suggestions upon her mind.
Everything he said was merely conjecture. The truth of his claims was uncertain—and Luo Ling didn't care to know.
While Ah Yin was still shaken by emotional turmoil, a dark crimson gleam quietly slipped into the Blue Silver Emperor's spiritual body.
The seed of the soul had been planted. The process of soul parasitism was complete.
With that done, Luo Ling no longer paid attention to the agitated Ah Yin. His gaze shifted downward toward the depths of the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well.
The last time he came here, his strength had been too weak to explore deeper.
Now, he could.
He knew well what lay beneath—the burial ground of the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings.
With that thought, Luo Ling did not hesitate and leapt into the well.
The pit was extremely deep. He descended for nearly half an hour before he finally saw the intense radiance of intertwined frost and flame.
Passing through a narrow tunnel, Luo Ling reached the resting place of the two Dragon Kings.
What met his eyes were two colossal dragon skeletons.
Time had eroded their flesh away entirely, leaving only the immense bones that stretched for nearly a kilometer.
As Luo Ling looked upon the terrifying remains, the divine souls of the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings sensed an intruder.
Two majestic dragon apparitions emerged above the skeletal remains, their massive heads exuding overwhelming dominance.
"Who dares trespass?" Thunderous voices boomed as two pairs of eyes locked onto Luo Ling.
"Ice and Fire Dragon Kings?" Luo Ling raised his gaze toward the twin dragon spirits.
Though they had died centuries ago, as former first-level gods their lingering divine souls still possessed a strength no Soul King could hope to match.
Yet Luo Ling showed no fear. If he could not fight them, he could always flee. Once he activated Ghost Veil, not even these Dragon Kings could catch him.
"Who are you, boy? How do you know who we are?" bellowed the Fire Dragon King, its roar shaking the underground chamber.
The Ice Dragon King beside it was far calmer, its icy-blue eyes glimmering with scrutiny.
"There's an evil aura about you… somewhat familiar too," the Ice Dragon King murmured.
Suddenly, its eyes widened. "The Primordial! Why do you carry the aura of the Primordial One?"
At those words, the Fire Dragon King also stared sharply, releasing waves of spiritual pressure that swept across Luo Ling's body.
Within Luo Ling, a sinister shadow stirred—slowly revealing itself.
"The Primordial…"
Seeing the manifestation, both Dragon Kings fell momentarily silent, their expressions flickering.
After exchanging glances, they seemed to reach a mutual decision. The Ice Dragon King spoke first:
"Boy, you must have come for our soul bones, haven't you?"
Luo Ling's expression remained calm. He heard them mention "the Primordial" again.
He had indeed obtained the Primordial God's divine trial, yet he knew nothing about this so-called deity.
Looking up, he said evenly, "I only came down because I read about the two Dragon Kings in an ancient text."
Feigning composure, Luo Ling maintained his act—he had no intention of revealing his true motives. What he wanted now was information.
"An ancient text? So you didn't come here because of the Primordial's Divine Trial?" The Ice Dragon King frowned.
"Divine Trial? What trial? And what is this 'Primordial' you keep mentioning?" Luo Ling asked with feigned confusion.
"Could it be that the Primordial still hasn't awakened?" The two Dragon Kings exchanged uncertain glances.
The atmosphere abruptly fell silent. The dragons communicated wordlessly, while Luo Ling merely observed.
It was then that the dark shadow within him quivered again.
Alive—aware.
Its demonic red eyes gleamed with greed as it stared at the two dragon souls.
Then, inside Luo Ling's mind, a deep voice rumbled:
"Second Trial of the Primordial God—Devour the Souls of the Ice and Fire Dragons."
Luo Ling's eyes widened.
The second trial already? The first hadn't even ended!
So this so-called Primordial God played by no rules at all.
In the stories, divine trials always came one after another—complete one before the next appeared. Two at once was unheard of.
And devour the Ice and Fire Dragon Souls?
He was just a Soul King—how was that even possible? Even in death, these Dragon Kings' divine souls likely retained half-divine power. He couldn't hope to fight, much less devour, them.
"Boy! That's clearly the power of the Primordial! You dare deceive us?"
Fury erupted from both Dragon Kings. The oppressive wave of divine might shook the air violently.
Luo Ling rolled his eyes—time to leave.
In the next instant, Ghost Veil activated, and his figure vanished completely.
A split second later, a violent burst of divine energy struck where he had stood, stirring the water into a massive vortex.
Seeing Luo Ling vanish, both Dragon Kings showed furious expressions, yet could do nothing.
"Damn it! The brat escaped!" roared the Fire Dragon King.
"Calm down, Old Fire," the Ice Dragon King said serenely. "That was the Primordial's power. We couldn't have stopped him. And knowing that the Primordial has awakened—perhaps that's not entirely bad news."
"Not bad? If the Primordial knows where we are, he'll surely try to devour us to restore his strength!" the Fire Dragon King fumed.
"Don't forget what we truly seek," the Ice Dragon King replied calmly. "The Primordial's awakening will plunge the God Realm into chaos. That will be the best chance for the Dragon God's resurrection."
"Even if we're devoured, as long as the Dragon God returns, we too can be reborn. We can even offer our souls willingly—make a deal. As long as our soul imprints remain, we can come back."
The Ice Dragon King's tone was tranquil. The Fire Dragon King, however, stared wide-eyed.
To willingly let the Primordial devour them—he couldn't even imagine it.
He knew full well what the Primordial was—a supreme, malevolent god. Bargaining with such an existence was nothing short of courting death.
Hidden within a fold of space, Luo Ling hadn't fully left. Listening to their words, his expression turned complicated.
He certainly wasn't foolish enough to trust the Ice Dragon King's talk of "deals." Gods did not give gifts freely.
Still, if the Primordial's trial had commanded him to devour the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings, then one day he would return to do so.
Through them, he might uncover many secrets about the Primordial itself.
After a moment's thought, Luo Ling let the matter rest and began ascending toward the surface of the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well.
