Chapter 229: Tang San Humiliated by the King of Slaughter

"King of Slaughter, I'd like to ask—six months ago, those two people who entered Hell Road, did they obtain the Killing God Domain?"

Tang San was not swayed by the King of Slaughter's offer and instead asked directly.

The King of Slaughter's expression stiffened. After a long silence, he replied with visible discomfort, "They succeeded."

Hearing that, Tang San's heart steadied.

He had witnessed the battle between the Hell Envoy and the Undying One.

Although he couldn't fully grasp the Undying One's methods, the Hell Envoy, in his judgment, was roughly on par with himself.

If the Hell Envoy could pass through Hell Road—why couldn't he?

"Forgive me, mighty King of Slaughter, but I still wish to challenge Hell Road. I want to rely on my own strength to walk through it and become a true Killing God," Tang San said firmly.

The King of Slaughter's eyes flashed coldly. "You have no idea how terrifying Hell Road truly is, Hammer-man. Remember—human life comes only once."

Tang San shook his head. "Mighty King of Slaughter, I didn't come here because I feared death. If the Hell Envoy can succeed, then so can I!"

"Hahaha…" The King of Slaughter's crimson eyes gleamed as he suddenly laughed.

"You think you can compare to the Hell Envoy?" His tone dripped with ridicule.

"Among the Undying One, the Hell Envoy, and you—the Hammer-man—you are the weakest of the three. With that rusted hammer of yours and your useless Blue Silver Grass, your chances of surviving Hell Road are almost zero."

"I'm giving you a chance. You'd better not overestimate yourself."

The King of Slaughter laughed derisively. If the Ten-Headed Sun Serpent hadn't been killed by the Undying One, he wouldn't have wasted a single glance on Tang San.

He knew Tang San's strength well. If the Sun Serpent still existed, Tang San would never make it through Hell Road alive.

A man nearly consumed by killing intent could not compare with the Undying One or the Hell Envoy.

Facing this humiliation, Tang San's face flushed crimson. Being looked down upon by the King of Slaughter reminded him of how Luo Ling once treated him.

A terrifying murderous aura burst from Tang San's eyes.

Why did everyone look down on him?

Luo Ling had done so. Now even the King of Slaughter did the same.

He was a Twin Martial Soul user—a genius who had achieved a hundred consecutive wins in the Hell Slaughter Arena!

"What's wrong? Do you want to fight me?"

Seeing Tang San's killing aura flare, the King of Slaughter sneered coldly. Waves of bloody energy swept toward Tang San.

The overwhelming killing intent snapped Tang San back to reality. As the crushing aura bore down on him like a storm, a flicker of panic crossed his eyes.

"Enough!"

A furious voice suddenly rang out.

From the sky, a surge of crimson soul power descended, scattering the King of Slaughter's aura.

The King of Slaughter turned sharply toward the source, his gaze icy cold.

The only ones capable of stopping him within the Slaughter City were Killing Gods themselves.

"King of Slaughter, those who win a hundred battles in the Hell Slaughter Arena have the right to enter Hell Road. Do you intend to break the rules?"

Not far away, a figure completely shrouded in a black cloak spoke in a deep, resonant voice.

The King of Slaughter glared at the black-robed figure, his eyes flashing with hostility. "I have broken no rules. I was merely teaching an insolent fool a lesson."

"Open Hell Road and let him in." The black-robed man gave him no face, his tone cold and commanding.

The King of Slaughter's face darkened, murderous rage flashing in his eyes. He wanted nothing more than to tear this Killing God apart—but he restrained himself.

Though stronger than this black-robed Killing God, to kill him outright without cost was impossible.

If they fought, the entire Slaughter City would be devastated.

"Hmph! Even if he enters Hell Road, this useless fool will only die for nothing!" the King of Slaughter snarled, and a thick red mist spread outward.

All around, the fallen began killing one another, their blood splattering across the arena floor, pooling together and flowing into the drainage channels below.

Tang San watched the scene unfold before him, the murderous aura in his heart swelling uncontrollably.

The King of Slaughter looked down with disdain. Compared to the Undying One and the Hell Envoy six months ago, Tang San's performance was utterly disappointing.

In the distance, Tang Hao watched anxiously as Tang San's mind teetered on the edge of madness, his brow furrowed with concern.

Gradually, a blood-red sigil in the shape of a bat appeared on the ground beneath Tang San's feet.

Struggling against the engulfing killing intent, Tang San's gaze gradually cleared in the final moment.

Tang Hao exhaled slightly in relief, though worry still shadowed his eyes.

Could Tang San really survive Hell Road? Even Tang Hao found that hard to believe.

As one who had personally walked the path, Tang Hao knew its horrors—especially the final trial that shredded the soul and mind.

A single misstep, and one would become nothing more than blood to nourish the crimson pool.

For the first time, Tang Hao regretted not urging Tang San to accept the King of Slaughter's proposal.

Now that Hell Road was open, refusing to enter would be seen as mockery.

The King of Slaughter might tolerate it once—but never twice.

Taking a deep breath, Tang Hao fixed his burning gaze on his son, praying silently that Tang San would succeed.

"Go on, then. Become food for the blood pool," the King of Slaughter said indifferently, glancing toward Tang Hao with scorn.

He had already given Tang San his chance. The rest would depend on strength alone.

"Hmph." Tang Hao gave a cold snort. As Tang San vanished into the crimson light, he turned and left without another word.

…

After an unknown amount of time, Tang San slowly regained consciousness.

His blood-tinged eyes gazed forward at a narrow platform suspended over an endless chasm. A single thin path stretched into the darkness beyond.

Everything around him seeped faintly with a red glow, and the air was thick with the stench of blood. Calming himself as best he could, Tang San began to move forward into the abyss.

…

Hell Road was even more perilous than Tang San had imagined.

Darkness stretched without end. The metallic scent of blood in the air constantly tempted him toward madness. Along the narrow path, endless swarms of bloodthirsty bats filled the air.

Tang San's hands moved in precise, practiced gestures, unleashing volleys of hidden weapons in every direction.

There were too many bats, and his hammer couldn't be used effectively in the confined pathway. Hidden weapons were his only option.

Among them were Blue Silver Blades woven from his Blue Silver Grass.

At this moment, Tang San thanked his luck for having such a skill.

In this environment, ranged attacks were essential. The narrow road was bordered by bottomless pits, making weapon recovery almost impossible. Without the Blue Silver Blades, he would have long run out of hidden weapons.

Under his relentless assault, countless bats fell screaming into the abyss. Tang San advanced step by step until he reached a slightly wider space—where a massive bat appeared before him.
