Chapter 239 - Chapter 239: The Poison Demon King and the Glazed Goddess

Chapter 239: The Poison Demon King and the Glazed Goddess

No one knew exactly when it began—

but the number of wolf bandits in the Heaven Dou Empire had drastically decreased.

The empire's geography consisted mainly of central and western plains.

Rivers flowed east to west, nourishing the fertile lands that supported Heaven Dou City and several of its core provinces.

To the south lay the border with the Spirit Hall and the Star Luo Empire. With the exception of a few plains provinces, most of the boundary was shielded by mountain ranges, the Star Dou Great Forest, and vast swamps that naturally separated the two powers.

In the northwest, north, and east, endless mountain chains blocked off the frigid lands of the Extreme North.

The wolf bandits typically hunted from north to south, raiding villages along their path—

slaughtering the men for food and kidnapping the women for breeding.

But over time, these raids became fewer and fewer.

At last, some bold spirit masters ventured to investigate the northern ranges.

What they found shocked the entire Empire.

The mountain valleys that once teemed with wolf bandits had turned into barren wastelands—

and on one massive boulder, words had been etched deeply:

"The Poison Demon King and the Glazed Goddess act on Heaven's behalf!"

The news spread like wildfire. The wolf bandits had been wiped out.

Soon, reports of the "Poison Demon King" and the "Glazed Goddess" began to appear across the entire northern frontier of the Douluo Continent.

Civilians and border troops alike were stunned.

In just over a year, these two figures had become living legends—

from east to west, west to east, they had ravaged every last stronghold of the wolf bandits.

No survivors were ever left behind.

Like divine messengers descending to deliver heavenly judgment, they brought justice to the land—

their names echoing like myth.

The message carved into stone, of course, was written by the ever-ambitious Ning Rongrong, eager to spread their story.

"Feng Xiaotian, we should add your name too!" she said that day, laughing as they destroyed the final wolf den.

"Just like Dean Flender's Golden Iron Triangle!

Brother Feng is the Corner of Slaughter, I'm the Corner of Support, and you're the Corner of Wind!"

Feng Xiaotian chuckled. "Better not. 'Poison Demon King and Glazed Goddess' suits you two perfectly.

Besides, the credit mostly belongs to Brother Dugu—I only tagged along."

He wasn't lying. The number of wolf bandits he had slain wasn't even a tenth of Dugu Feng's tally.

Their efficiency in battle was incomparable.

"Hehehe, 'divine couple' does sound nice," Ning Rongrong said cheerfully.

Someday, when their real identities were revealed, the continent would be shaken to its core.

The three soared through the sky, riding on the backs of two Jade Dragon Snakes.

Dugu Feng said calmly, "As long as Gale Demon Wolves exist, wolf bandits can never be completely eradicated. But after this purge, it'll be years before they pose a threat again."

Over the past year, they had annihilated every known group of wolf bandits.

During this period, both Ning Rongrong and Feng Xiaotian had obtained their fifth spirit rings, advancing to the Spirit King realm.

Dugu Feng himself had reached level fifty-six.

"Brother Feng, what now?" Ning Rongrong asked with a bright smile, leaning against his shoulder.

"Now, we explore," Dugu Feng replied. "We must uncover the source of this wind energy—there might be a great opportunity hidden here."

At his words, both Ning Rongrong and Feng Xiaotian's eyes sparkled. They too wanted to know what made this place special.

Under the swift flight of the Jade Dragon Snakes, they soon arrived above the storm-laden canyons again.

The snakes circled several times before ascending a towering peak that rose nearly ten thousand meters high.

This was the tallest mountain among all the Hurricane Canyons.

Strangely enough, it was entirely composed of rock. Sparse, stubborn grasses pushed through cracks in the stone, thinly veiling the mountain in a patchwork of green.

"A mountain this high, near the ice plains—and yet there's no snow!" Ning Rongrong exclaimed in wonder.

Looking at the bare, hardened ridges, Dugu Feng quickly understood why.

It was the wind. The gales here were so fierce that no large vegetation could survive.

Thunderous gusts roared past their ears, shaking their bones as if the heavens themselves were coughing storms.

Instinctively, all three looked down from the summit.

Below, a deep narrow canyon cleaved through the mountains like a crack in the sky—a line of shadow connecting earth and clouds.

The deafening racket came from within that narrow gorge.

"When I trained in the canyon before," Feng Xiaotian said with lingering dread, "I always stayed near the bottom—I never dared to fly higher. The higher you go, the stronger the wind becomes."

"If there's truly an opportunity to be found," Dugu Feng said, "then it must lie where the winds are strongest.

And since this is the tallest of all peaks, the canyon below must hold the fiercest winds of all.

Can you both feel how active the wind energy is here?"

Ning Rongrong and Feng Xiaotian nodded immediately—they could.

For Feng Xiaotian especially, his entire body seemed to hum with excitement, his spirit power resonating with the surrounding air.

"The energy is so vibrant, but there's barely any vegetation taller than a meter… that means it's dangerous up here," Feng Xiaotian warned.

Dugu Feng smiled. "Dangerous, yes—but that's exactly why we're going to dig straight through it."

Ning Rongrong's eyes widened.

"You're not serious!"

But Dugu Feng's actions proved he was.

Instantly entering spirit possession, his upper body radiated intense heat. The air around him shimmered, and from the jade pouch at his waist, an overwhelming surge of extreme flame erupted.

It burned a three-meter-wide area in seconds.

Moments later, the heat vanished—replaced by extreme cold that froze everything solid.

The rock around them cracked loudly, the surface shattering under the sudden temperature shift.

After fire came frost—and then poison.

His second spirit ring flashed, venom seeping into the fissures and detonating in an ear-splitting explosion.

The ground quaked beneath them.

Feng Xiaotian, recovering from his shock, immediately reacted—

"Tornado Blades!"

His fifth spirit ability, unleashing a spiral of cutting winds that ground the fractured rock into dust.

When the winds settled, a massive pit—five meters deep and three wide—yawned before them.

"Brother Feng, you're amazing!" Ning Rongrong exclaimed. "Just how many tricks do you have that we still don't know about?"

Her admiration was genuine—and growing.

The more time she spent with Dugu Feng, the more she realized he was a mystery without end.

His methods seemed infinite.

Dugu Feng only smiled, saying nothing, as he scooped her gently into his arms and leapt down into the pit.

If they weren't here, he thought silently, I could have just used the Eight Spider Lances to carve this out in seconds.

But he wasn't ready to reveal his external bone yet.

The walls of the pit were smooth, polished by alternating waves of fire and ice—a testament to his precise control over both extremes.

Feng Xiaotian followed, landing behind them, ready to delve deeper.

The true mystery of the hurricane's heart lay below.
