Chapter 96: Your Turn, Little Silver Dragon King!
Across the field stood identical ranks of twin‑ringed Soul Masters, their captain boasting three rings.
A fair match—or so they thought.
They also knew from the reports that Class Zero lacked a support‑type soul master. That advantage belonged to them!
"Brothers! Charge!" their captain bellowed.
Xie Xie grinned. "Even if Gu Yue joins the fight, they wouldn't stand a chance!"
As soon as the referee announced the start, Tang Wulin wasted no time.
"First soul skill—Blue Silver Bind!"
With Gu Yue on their team, victory over any academy other than Shrek was all but guaranteed.
Blue vines shot out like lightning, wrapping around the enemy captain before he could react.
Then Tang Wulin's dragon blood flared golden as he lunged forward to punch.
The Federation's funding—and the Spirit Pagoda's too—depended on results. Class Zero's future rank evaluation was riding on these performances.
In short—this was about one thing.
Winning.
It was showtime, and everyone wanted the MVP.
Xie Xie blinked when Tang Wulin charged in first. Seriously, man? You're just diving straight in like that?
Glancing around, he realized everyone except Gu Yue had already rushed ahead. No one was holding back or covering positions.
Then it hit him.
Oh, you sly fox, he cursed internally. Didn't even warn us!
"Wulin! I'm coming too!"
Even Xu Xiaoyan, normally calm and composed, was caught up in the rush.
She gritted her teeth. My control skills won't shine here—but fine! I'll use my fists!
Across the arena, the seven students from the unknown academy froze as six fierce young warriors charged straight at them.
Two yellow rings, one purple—Soul Elder.
Two yellow rings—Great Soul Master.
The color of their rings couldn't compare, and despair filled their faces.
Still, their captain—a three‑ring Soul Elder—spotted Tang Wulin approaching, his aura only at two rings.
His grin widened.
A mere two‑ring kid dares to fight me head‑on?
He'd prove that even small‑town Soul Masters could defeat the "elite prodigies" of the great academies.
Win or lose—the pride of his team would stand tall!
"You underestimate me!"
But Tang Wulin didn't even reply. His vines tightened, locking the man in place.
A single punch struck the captain's chest like a cannon blast.
With a sputter of blood, the man flew backward, gasping—only for the Blue Silver Bind to yank him right back. Dangling helplessly, he swayed like a trapped puppet.
"I—what the hell is this?!"
Around them, the others lasted barely seconds.
In what was supposed to be a seven‑on‑seven battle, everyone charged individually, crushing their opponents one‑by‑one.
The audience stared, dumbfounded.
Only the enemy's support‑type master was left trembling under Gu Yue's cold gaze.
"H‑I surrender!"
The referee raised his hand quickly. "Stop!" Even he was shocked.
It had ended too fast.
Especially that two‑ring youth—with just Blue Silver Grass as his martial soul—and still he'd one‑shot a three‑ring Soul Elder.
That bloodline was anything but ordinary.
Clearly, their time training within the Ascension Tower—fighting the strongest of the past—had sharpened all of them.
Tang Wulin might have the lowest spirit rank in Class Zero, but no one could call him weak.
Xie Xie dismissed his martial soul with a grin. "Hey, you think we'll take the championship?"
"Careful you don't bite your tongue from all that bragging," a cold voice suddenly cut in.
They turned to see a girl standing nearby—arms folded, face stoic.
"Huh? And who might you be?" Xie Xie muttered.
Xu Xiaoyan tugged his sleeve sharply, whispering, "That's someone from Shrek Academy."
Xie Xie frowned. "So what if she is? That's exactly who we aim to beat."
Even Tang Wulin frowned slightly.
The two newcomers, one icy‑eyed girl and a round boy, were familiar faces.
Ye Xinglan and Xu Lizhi—both from Shrek Academy.
Ye Xinglan crossed her arms, her gaze sharp. "You? Beat us?"
Xie Xie shrugged. "What, is Shrek supposed to be untouchable or something? Didn't you lot run off the continent with your tails between your legs?"
"You—!"
Rage blazed in Ye Xinglan's eyes, fire practically pouring from her pupils.
Those words had struck her reverse scale.
Though technically an outer‑courtyard student, she had already been marked for inner‑courtyard succession.
Shrek was her home—her faith.
No one insulted Shrek in front of her and walked away unscathed.
Only Xu Lizhi's quick restraint kept her from attacking on the spot.
Tang Wulin grabbed Xie Xie's shoulder, trying to calm things down.
He himself had no grudge against Shrek. Sure, he wanted to join the Spirit Pagoda, but the academy was just that—an academy. Nothing to mock.
Saying something like that in front of a proud Shrek disciple was asking for trouble.
Xie Xie muttered petulantly, "Tch, if she hadn't started it, I wouldn't have said anything."
Ye Xinglan glared daggers. "Fine. Eastsea Academy, right? Hope you're ready to be crushed. I'll remember your faces!"
Xu Lizhi pulled her away, mumbling apologetically over his shoulder. "Don't mind her… she just—uh, really loves her academy."
But even then, Ye Xinglan shot one last glare at them. "So ignorant of your own limits."
Meanwhile, back at the hotel that evening, Jiang Chen sat staring at Gu Yue intensely.
It was her turn to fight soon.
Gu Yue crossed her arms coolly and shoved him toward the door.
"Out."
"Wait—what?" He blinked.
The door slammed. A lock clicked.
"What's with all this secrecy…" he grumbled.
After a moment, the door creaked open again—and instead of a silver dragon, a small dark‑scaled dragon emerged.
"Uh… that's—Di Tian?" Jiang Chen blurted.
Gu Yue spoke calmly. "My true form shouldn't be revealed publicly. This will do."
Hiding her identity by disguising as Di Tian? Classic her.
He smirked inwardly. "What if Bi Ji or Zi Ji see you and think Di Tian's got illegitimate kids?"
Shaking off the ridiculous thought, he reached out automatically—but Gu Yue dodged his hand.
Her tail flicked sharply. "What are you doing?"
"What do you think? Taking you to the arena!" he said innocently.
Tail snapping like a whip, she brushed him off and opened a rift in space.
The next second, Jiang Chen felt a weight on his head.
He froze—then realized she was sitting on him.
"Get down!" he growled.
But her claws tangled firmly in his hair, ensuring she stayed exactly where she was.
She flicked her tail smugly. "The match is about to start."
"…Fine!" Jiang Chen groaned. "You win."
He sighed, resigned, as he strode toward the door with her stubbornly perched above.
"At this point, what difference does it make," he muttered, "I've already petted this dragon enough."
Taking a deep breath, he looked up toward the glowing arena gates.
"Go then," he said under his breath, lips curling with wry amusement. "Your turn, little Silver Dragon King."
