Chapter 95: Gu Yue, Please Stop Messing with Me!
"Frost-Soul White-Scaled Serpent, teach her a lesson!"
Gu Yue didn't even glance at her opponent. Her violet eyes remained fixed on Jiang Chen.
He felt his fur bristle. Oh, my dear ancestor, I'm doomed…
He was only sealed as a thousand-year spirit beast right now, and she wanted him to fight head‑on from the start? What kind of commander was this?!
Grinding his claws helplessly, Jiang Chen raised his paw as dark energy condensed at his tip.
A pitch-black claw blade formed on his left paw—twenty meters long, enveloped in shadow.
Well... it's still technically a claw attack.
Xu Xian had first thought his opponent was recklessly charging to her death. Turns out, she actually had some tricks up her sleeve.
But black smoke or not, he quickly regained his composure. So what? She's not even a real transmitter. She can't possibly draw out her soul's full power.
He had no time to question why a "white tiger" attack looked like something out of a nightmare—because Jiang Chen had already moved.
With a roar, the small white tiger swung his twenty‑meter, smoke‑shrouded claw toward the serpent.
"Frost-Soul White-Scaled Serpent, dodge!" Xu Xian barked.
Behind him, Gu Yue called out casually, "Xiao Bai, charge in! Bite it!"
Jiang Chen nearly tripped.
Are you serious right now?!
How was this "command"? This was… bullying!
If he still had human fangs, he'd have chewed her out on the spot.
From the stands, Mu Xi frowned slightly. "It seems Miss Gu Yue has no real experience with spirit battles."
Even Eastsea's top transmitter couldn't bear to watch any longer.
"This is pure chaos," she muttered.
Tang Wulin nodded. "Yeah… I've never seen her command a spirit, let alone use one like that."
"Hey."
A sudden voice interrupted. Tang Wulin turned. Before him stood two young figures—one girl, cool and composed, and one chubby boy beside her.
"Wait… aren't those students from Shrek Academy?" he whispered.
"Yeah," Mu Xi recognized them instantly. "Ye Xinglan and Xu Lizhi."
They hadn't fought earlier that morning, so their true strength was unknown—but as Shrek elites, they were hardly average.
Still—what were Shrek Academy students doing at a spirit‑soul tournament?
Shrek allowed its students to contract spirits—but not to become Spirit Transmitters. Carrying spirit orbs into the academy was outright forbidden.
Spirit contracts were lifelong bonds; a contracted spirit would remain until death. But spirit orbs? Those belonged to the Spirit Pagoda. If secrets leaked through them, Shrek would never risk it.
It was absolutely prohibited.
Yet the girl's eyes shone as she watched the battle, captivated.
"Strange…" Tang Wulin murmured. "Shrek students getting excited over spirit battles?"
Meanwhile, down in the arena, the fight was heating up.
Xu Xian, no longer mocking, was drenched in sweat.
"D‑damn it! How is that thousand-year white tiger holding out against my Frost-Soul Serpent—it's over three thousand years strong!?"
His serpent coiled, releasing frigid energy. "Frost-Soul White-Scaled Serpent, stay strong! Use Frostlight Break!"
Dozens of icy spikes formed out of thin air, blasting toward the tiger.
Gu Yue's calm voice rang out: "Tank it."
Jiang Chen's deadpan silence said it all.
Tanking it?! She's clearly messing with me!
Wasn't she the one who insisted she wanted to win the championship? Did she even remember that now?
He sighed. Forget it. Let's end this.
He raised his twenty‑meter smoky claw once again and smashed through the volley of ice spikes.
In that instant, a strange pulse surged through his body. He looked up to see Gu Yue's eyes glowing bright purple.
She's activating her full power?
He didn't hesitate. Energy surged—his claw blade shattered the remaining frost, and with a burst of spatial power, he vanished from view.
Instant Movement!
Before Xu Xian could react, Jiang Chen reappeared beside the serpent, slashing down in one clean strike.
"Frost-Soul Serpent, hold on!" Xu Xian shouted, panic lacing his voice. "Show them the strength of our bond!"
The serpent coiled desperately, defying gravity to rise once more.
Jiang Chen almost admired it. What resolve.
But enough was enough.
Once Gu Yue's glowing eyes dimmed, he knew—she was done playing.
So he ended it too.
"Winner of the first match: Gu Yue!" the referee declared.
Later, in their hotel room, Jiang Chen glared daggers at her.
"Did you do that on purpose—just to mess with me?!"
"Change me back now!"
Gu Yue only laughed, reaching out to grab his tail again.
"Don't rush it," she teased. "We still have plenty of time."
"How long are you going to keep this up?!"
Fine, he thought darkly. Just you wait.
Sooner or later, she'd pay for this humiliation. Men could be dragon knights too!
He kept grumbling as she playfully stroked his fur until it was time for the team matches. Only then did she let him go.
"Wait—at least change me back first!" he cried.
Gu Yue snapped her fingers.
With a flash of light and a soft pop, he transformed back into human form.
Finally, he let out a long sigh of relief. "Finally…!"
That had been terrifying.
Still… he'd make sure to return the favor tonight.
"No backing out later," he warned.
"Relax," Gu Yue said with a smirk. "I never go back on my word."
By the time she reached the arena, it was time for their team's match—Round One, Battle Eight.
The seven‑on‑seven battles were the highlight of the competition, though only forty‑eight teams qualified across the Eastern Federation. Their main rivals were Shrek Academy and the elite schools of other major cities.
But as soon as Gu Yue walked onto the field, the opposing team's confidence shattered.
A ten‑year‑old Soul Ancestor—level forty among a field of Great Soul Masters—was pure despair.
Even without a support‑type teammate, their Class Zero lineup didn't need one.
"Gu Yue," Tang Wulin said quietly, "let us handle this one, okay?"
Xie Xie grinned. "Yeah, why bother if we can just win by default?"
Xu Xiaoyan glared at him. "Idiot! We're here to show off for the Federation and the Spirit Pagoda. If Gu Yue does everything, what are we even here for?"
"Don't call me an idiot! I'm brilliant!" Xie Xie shot back.
Gu Yue ignored them all, stepping back to make her point clear—she wouldn't be taking action.
Tang Wulin exhaled in relief. If she fought, there'd be nothing left for them to do.
Across the arena, their opponents fumed.
"They're mocking us," the enemy captain growled. "That girl doesn't even plan to fight—she thinks we're not worth her time!"
Rage flashed in the youths' eyes.
"So what if we lose," said their captain fiercely, "we'll lose standing tall! Everyone—activate your martial souls!"
