Chapter 109: Insolence! Those Who Join Shrek Belong to Shrek!
Once Yun Ming had spoken, no one dared to object aloud—but beneath the surface, discontent brewed.
More and more elders began to question their Pavilion Master. Even during Shrek's so-called "darkest generation," under the infamous Gluttonous Douluo—deemed the weakest Pavilion Master in history—Shrek had at least preserved its dignity and reputation.
But now, this so-called strongest man on the continent acted so weakly. Unfit indeed.
Yun Ming's gaze swept across the hall. He knew what they were thinking, but there was nothing he could do. He could suppress their wills, but not change their hearts.
Great Ancestor above, he thought grimly, where will Shrek go from here?
"Where's Jiang Chen?"
"I think he went to meet someone… very secretive."
After the tournament, the students of Zero Class returned from the arena.
Wu Zhangkong's lips curved into a faint smile that lingered. He was genuinely proud of his students' victory.
Defeating Shrek Academy had made them famous across the Federation.
Fame meant influence—and resources would soon follow.
But his smile vanished abruptly as a new presence filled the room.
Wu Zhangkong quickly bowed. "Heavenmoon Douluo—honor to your arrival. To what do we owe the pleasure?"
Before him stood an elderly woman.
Most Titled Douluos used their soul power to maintain youth, unless they were half a step into the grave—like Dragon Moon Night. But Cai Yue'er was different. After her unrequited love for Yun Ming, she had deliberately altered her appearance into that of an old woman, perhaps as an outward expression of inner despair.
Wu Zhangkong's heart sank. The Dean of Shrek Academy's Outer Court herself had come in person—and from what he knew of her reputation, this visit could only mean trouble.
He instinctively stepped forward, subtly shielding his students behind him.
Cai Yue'er nodded faintly, her sharp eyes gleaming with approval.
"No wonder—you truly are a student of my Shrek Academy."
Her gaze swept across the group. A surge of spiritual power washed over them, examining every detail—until it struck Gu Yue.
The moment she tried to probe further, an immense mental force rejected her investigation outright.
"Gu Yue?"
Gu Yue's brow twitched. This woman was audacious—recklessly scanning others without restraint.
"Yes," Gu Yue replied coolly.
"Not bad. You're the disciple of the Spirit Transmission Tower's Vice Master, Leng Yaozhu, aren't you? Interested in joining the Spirit Transmission Tower?"
Gu Yue raised a brow. "And the Tower Master?"
Cai Yue'er's smile faltered. She quickly turned away, ignoring the jab.
Just like her teacher—detestable. But all those women were failures anyway—failures in chasing after Yun Ming.
Her eyes flicked back to the others, satisfaction gleaming.
These children were fated for Shrek.
So what if they'd defeated Shrek Academy's team? Once they entered Shrek, it would count as nothing more than an inner competition. The glory would still belong to Shrek!
Especially that Xu Xiaoyan—her martial soul's attribute was almost identical to Cai Yue'er's own.
She'd already decided.
"Congratulations," Cai Yue'er announced arrogantly. "You've earned the right to join Shrek Academy—and become proud Shrek students!"
Everyone: "...What?"
Xie Xie blinked. "Wait, what? I never agreed—"
Boom!
A thunderous strike sent Xie Xie flying before he could finish.
Wu Zhangkong's face darkened. "Heavenmoon Douluo, that was excessive—they're just children!"
"Hmph! I am a Super Douluo! Not to be insulted! A Soul Master must take responsibility for their words and actions."
The students stared in disbelief. Was she serious? This old woman was beyond shameless!
"I am the Dean of Shrek Academy's Outer Court and an Elder of the Sea God Pavilion. I could personally teach you."
Xu Xiaoyan's face hardened. "So what if you're a Super Douluo? Is this how Shrek's power works—by forcing others?"
She had once admired Shrek. That admiration faded swiftly.
"I refuse!"
Cai Yue'er's expression chilled. "Do you have any idea how many beg to be my student? You should be grateful I even considered you—it's a blessing earned over several lifetimes."
But the truth was—these students had already signed contracts with the Federation to join the upcoming Douluo University, co-founded with the Spirit Transmission Tower. None of them had any interest in Shrek anymore—and after this encounter, they felt nothing but disgust.
Wu Zhangkong worried she might lash out further. No one present could stop her if she did.
He quickly stepped forward. "Heavenmoon Douluo, they've already signed with the Federation—they're joining the newly established university."
Cai Yue'er let out a sharp, mocking laugh.
"The Federation's university?"
"What institution could possibly surpass Shrek Academy?"
"The destiny of every Soul Master is to become a god—and the only place that produces gods is my Shrek Academy!"
She leaned in, eyes gleaming.
"Besides—since you, Wu Zhangkong, came from Shrek Academy, your students are the result of Shrek's teachings. That means they belong to us by right!"
"Furthermore, on behalf of Shrek Academy, I offer you all the chance to enter the Inner Court. Think carefully—this decision will shape your entire futures. Don't be rash."
Then her gaze turned razor-sharp, pinning Wu Zhangkong.
"And you. Why aren't you speaking on behalf of Shrek? Have you turned traitor?"
Wu Zhangkong's jaw tightened, anger flashing in his eyes.
He'd always known this old woman's tongue was poisonous, but now she was proving impossible to tolerate. Why was someone like her even permitted to represent Shrek? She'd practically destroyed their public image single-handedly.
"Well?" she pressed. "Have you decided?"
Under the faint but crushing pressure of her aura, the students exchanged grim looks.
It was clear—even Wu Zhangkong couldn't protect them if she decided to act.
Finally, Tang Wulin stepped forward, his voice firm despite the weight pressing down.
"Forgive us, Senior, and thank you for your offer. But the Federation's new university suits us best."
Cai Yue'er's sharp eyes snapped to him, filled with disdain.
A faint sneer tugged at her lips. To her, Tang Wulin was nothing but a weakling.
Despite his forging talent, his soul power was pitiful. In Shrek's eyes, forging meant nothing—only raw strength mattered.
Perhaps that was why Shrek had failed to innovate for millennia, forcing them to rely on Tang Sect for soul tool research after the catastrophic fall of their invention branch.
"You? You don't even deserve to enter the Inner Court. Giving you an Outer Court spot would already be charity.
A worthless Blue Silver Grass martial soul—trash like you could never reach Titled Douluo."
"Even if you did, you'd be the weakest kind."
"Now shut your mouth! You have no right to speak here!"
