Chapter 108: Remember! I Am the Sea God Pavilion Master!
The day Shrek Academy was defeated was a dark one.
Everyone returned to their rooms in silence, weighed down by defeat and disappointment. They needed time to calm down.
But soon after, the Dean of Shrek Academy's Outer Court—
Heavenmoon Douluo Cai Yue'er—arrived in person!
With just one glance, Shen Yi felt as though she'd fallen into an icy pond.
"D-Dean…" she stammered.
"This failure," Cai Yue'er said coldly, "whatever the excuse, does not absolve you of responsibility. Return to the academy and accept your punishment."
She had already dealt with the instructor who had led the previous losing team—the one who had been defeated by the hidden Bai sisters from the Spirit Transmission Tower—bringing disgrace to Shrek.
And now, at the Tianhai Grand Tournament, they were crushed by an ordinary academy.
If not for Shen Yi being the disciple of Turbid World Douluo, one of the Sea God Pavilion Elders, Cai Yue'er would not have let her off so easily.
"Yes… Dean," Shen Yi bowed her head meekly.
Cai Yue'er began reviewing her file list. "Xie Xie, Zhang Yangzi, Xu Xiaoyan, Wang Jinxi, Tang Wulin, Huo Yun'er, Di Xuer, Gu Yue, Jiang Chen…"
Her sharp gaze moved across each name—her satisfaction growing.
"All except Gu Yue and Di Xuer are not direct disciples of the Spirit Transmission Tower's Titled Douluos."
"They may not be as exceptional as our Shrek students yet, but they still hold potential. The Tower might overlook them—but if we offer them the honor of entering Shrek Academy's Inner Court, they'll fight for it with everything they have."
"It will be their greatest honor."
Once they chose Shrek, any subsequent conflicts would be between students, not institutions, shielding Shrek's millennia of reputation from any blemish.
From disappointment, Cai Yue'er's expression slowly turned proud.
"These children are destined to join Shrek Academy!"
For the Soul Beasts, I tread carefully: "Dead Jiang Chen, where are you?"
To subdue all in this lifetime: "Can't you come find me yourself?"
For the Soul Beasts, I tread carefully: "I sneaked out in secret! If I release my spirit power to search, they'll catch me instantly!"
That's right—his old friend Di Tian was here too!
He had personally come to present awards and announce the Federation's cooperation with the Spirit Transmission Tower—establishing Douluo University.
Though he wasn't fond of his master's grand plans, he couldn't voice his objections.
Still, at least this one made sense: before any grand ambition could be realized, the first step was to make Gu Yue the official Tower Master. That part was easy.
However, to avoid suspicion, the Soul Beast faction couldn't openly support her. After all, her current identity was "the personal disciple of the Spirit Transmission Tower's Vice Master."
A human.
Fortunately, her performance was enough to silence all doubt—she had dominated the Tianhai Tournament, crushed Shrek Academy, and seized the championship.
Now, as Di Tian arrived to deliver the awards, he would publicly announce two things:
the creation of Douluo University, and the Spirit Transmission Tower's faith in "Gu Yue."
In name at least, she now possessed the qualifications to succeed as Tower Master.
"Brother, why are you sneaking around like this?"
In a deserted alley, Di Tian wore a black cloak and mask that covered most of his face.
Jiang Chen sighed at the ridiculous sight. "Really?"
"You don't understand," Di Tian grumbled. "If anyone recognizes me, we'll never escape the mob."
He wasn't exaggerating—his fame across the Douluo Federation rivaled that of any celebrity. His title as the "Number One Being" wasn't an overstatement.
Whenever he appeared in public, armies of reporters and fans swarmed him. At first, human admiration had intrigued him, but after several thousand years… it was just exhausting.
"Fine, fine," Jiang Chen chuckled. "Turns out our mighty Sky Emperor has become a literal superstar."
Meanwhile, within the Star Luo Federation—inside the Sea God Pavilion of Shrek Academy—tension filled the grand meeting hall.
Sitting at the head seat, Pavilion Master Yun Ming let out a long, weary sigh.
"Another defeat… Shrek's reputation crumbles day by day. Perhaps heaven itself wants to destroy Shrek."
He sounded tired and lost. It wasn't that he lacked strength; he simply felt powerless against politics.
"I can't even lead properly… Maybe I'd rather just fight someone than sit here."
"Don't lose hope, Pavilion Master!" said Feng Wuyu firmly. "The Federation may have driven us out of Shrek City, but that only shows their fear. One day, we'll reclaim everything we've lost!"
Indeed, the Federation hadn't destroyed Shrek—they only exiled them. Why? Because they still feared Shrek Academy's legend.
They'd spread stories of how Shrek had sacrificed itself to stop the Holy Spirit Cult—turning them into martyrs instead of publishing the painful truth of their downfall.
It was all to placate Shrek, not crush it.
"Pavilion Master," Feng Wuyu continued passionately, "we Shrek have over thirty Titled Douluo, and with you—the strongest of all on the continent—we remain unmatched. Even relocated, we are still the world's number one academy!"
"Across the five regional tournaments—East, Central, South, North, and West—we've already lost two! This isn't just a bruise to our pride—it's the Federation's strategy to slowly choke Shrek! Pavilion Master, we can't stay passive any longer!"
Voices rose in agreement across the chamber.
They were Shrek—how could they bow their heads repeatedly? They hadn't even confronted the Federation for destroying Tang Sect yet, and now the Federation dared to pressure them further?
"This can't be forgiven!"
Yun Ming sighed deeply.
"Do you think I don't know? Haven't you realized yet? The Spirit Transmission Tower is already in bed with the Federation. Shrek has been pushed aside."
"So what?!"
"Pavilion Master," someone else protested, "Shrek has survived for over ten thousand years—past the Star Luo and Heaven Dou empires, through their fall and the rise of new kingdoms! From the Heavenly Soul to the Dou Spirit Empires battling the Sun Moon Empire, we endured every change, every unification! How? Because of our name—because of Shrek's eternal reputation!"
"The glory of being number one under heaven! That is what Shrek stands for!"
"And that, we cannot lose!"
"Yes!" more elders joined in. "He's right! We must not compromise further! Now that we stand safely within the Star Luo Federation, the Douluo Federation won't dare attack—they can't risk war! With our strength, no one can touch us!"
"We are Shrek Academy—the strongest in the world! We cannot lose our ten-thousand-year honor!"
"Enough!"
The outburst of defiance was silenced by Yun Ming's roar.
"Ten-thousand-year honor this! Ten-thousand-year reputation that!" he slammed his palm on the table. "What good is it now?"
"Enough!" he bellowed again, eyes flashing with divine pressure. "No one moves without my order! Anyone who disobeys will be expelled from Shrek Academy!"
His cold gaze swept across the chamber, silencing every elder.
"Remember—
I am the Sea God Pavilion Master!"
