Chapter 214 - Chapter 214: Kill the Bestie, Steal the Junior!

Chapter 214: Kill the Bestie, Steal the Junior!

Mu Xi sat lifelessly, her eyes dull.

She no longer knew what to do.

Her best friend had given her an ultimatum—either make a move on Tang Wulin, or she would.

After endless hesitation, Ouyang Zixin had pushed her one step too far.

If she backed down again, she'd only be torturing herself.

Finally, Mu Xi snapped.

"No way!"

Just the thought of Ouyang Zixin and her own junior Tang Wulin being together—eating, studying, living, maybe even… staying at the same inn—was unbearable.

"Absolutely not!"

But thinking harder about it, Mu Xi realized how hopeless it was.

Tang Wulin adored Ouyang Zixin—utterly, wholeheartedly.

She'd been trying to steal his attention for two years with no success at all.

What if she confessed and he rejected her?

Then what? Even their senior-junior relationship might shatter beyond repair.

Remembering how disastrously his confession to Ouyang Zixin had gone, Mu Xi's flickering courage dimmed again.

"Forget it… let it be," she sighed.

"Besides, Zixin said she'd never like a younger man—and she'd never steal her best friend's crush."

"Maybe if I wait a few years, he'll give up after being rejected enough times."

"Maybe one day, he'll realize his senior sister is better than his goddess!"

Mu Xi lay on her forging table, daydreaming.

For now, caution was safer.

Better to do nothing than to do the wrong thing.

Unfortunately, while she could wait, Ouyang Zixin could not.

Her communicator buzzed.

Ouyang Zixin: "So? Have you decided?"

Mu Xi: "I'm scared!"

Ouyang Zixin: "Scared of what, you idiot?!"

Mu Xi: "He likes you! What if he rejects me?"

Ouyang Zixin: "If rejection worked, he'd have given up already!"

Mu Xi: "Don't insult my junior!"

Ouyang Zixin: "…"

She wanted to scream.

Instead, she typed back, "Listen to me—make your move. That boy's persistence will wear me down eventually, and if I really fall for him, it'll be your fault!"

Mu Xi: "You're not allowed to fall for him! You're my best friend!"

Ouyang Zixin: "Oh, now you remember we're besties? Then hurry up and rescue me already!"

Mu Xi: "I'm scared!"

"Arghhh!" Ouyang Zixin slammed her desk.

Was this woman even human anymore!?

Besties, her foot!

She was ready to cut ties!

Ouyang Zixin: "I'll say this once—if you don't take action, and you lose him, don't come crying to me! Love doesn't wait for anyone. I'm barely keeping my feelings in check—don't test my patience."

Mu Xi fell silent.

She understood everything logically. But taking real action?

That was the hard part.

She wanted to succeed—not fail.

And if she failed?

She couldn't bear it—losing Tang Wulin entirely, having him avoid her, ignore her, treat her like a stranger…

That thought alone terrified her.

Finally, she messaged back: "What if… hear me out. You just keep him hanging for now, but take me with you everywhere. The three of us—together."

Ouyang Zixin sighed, massaging her temples.

"What did they do to you? That's not love—it's twisted! Dream on. I'm not into shared projects like that!"

Was this girl serious?

Waiting for someone to hand her love on a silver platter—what nonsense!

As Mu Xi's silence lingered, Ouyang grew restless.

Meanwhile, in the lecture hall, Lin Zichen was teaching about the Federation's latest soul device technology. Tang Wulin sat beside Ouyang Zixin, chin resting on one hand, completely spaced out.

His eyes drifted to her again and again, full of adoration.

In his mind, she truly was the most beautiful woman in the world.

He could never get tired of looking at her.

Ouyang Zixin caught his gaze, sighed, and brushed a strand of hair from her face.

Then she said softly, "Hand."

"Huh?" he blinked.

"Give me your hand—oh, forget it."

She reached over and grabbed it herself.

With her other hand, she opened her communicator and texted furiously.

"If you still don't act, I will! And when that happens, blame yourself! The kid might be young, but he's kind, talented, and full of potential."

Mu Xi: "!!!"

She practically shot upright in shock.

"Where's my hammer!?"

"Where's my sword!?"

"Ouyang Zixin, you just wait—I'm gonna cut you to pieces!"

Best friends no more. In that instant, they became mortal enemies.

Seizing the nearest heavy forge hammer, Mu Xi's muscles bulged with fury as she stormed out the door.

Her mind went blank, filled with one thought only—

Steal the junior. Kill the bestie.

"Huh?"

Jiang Chen, who had been searching for Tang Wulin, ran straight into the raging Mu Xi.

"Hey! Wait, I'm looking for Tang Wulin!"

"Don't stop me! I'm going to kill someone!"

She bolted off in the direction of Ouyang Zixin's classroom. Best friends always knew where to find each other, even in rage.

Jiang Chen stood frozen for a moment.

Humans sure had terrible manners.

Then again, only someone like Tang Wulin could cause this level of chaos.

What a messy love triangle.

Dark clouds seemed to follow her out the door.

Thankfully, Ouyang Zixin had anticipated this—she ended her class early and slipped outside with Tang Wulin.

She knew Mu Xi would eventually snap.

And sure enough, there she was—storming toward them.

Ouyang Zixin folded her arms, meeting her fury with an icy stare.

"You go," she told Tang Wulin.

"Me?"

Even from a distance, he felt the murderous aura. His senior sister looked terrifying—who on earth had angered her like this?

Still, if Ouyang told him to go, then he would.

He approached Mu Xi.

The moment she saw him, she froze, dropped her hammer, covered her face—and ran off crying.

Tang Wulin: "???"

Ouyang Zixin: "???"

Jiang Chen: "???"

What kind of drama was this!?

"Huh?"

"Well? Go after her!" Ouyang barked.

Without hesitation, Tang Wulin dashed after her.

On the way, Jiang Chen stopped him.

"Yo, Brother Jiang Chen! You're back!"

The younger man's eyes lit up. He admired Jiang Chen so much—living with Na'er under the same roof!

He wished he could live with his senior sister like that someday. To see her every morning… heaven!

"I got cut off from the spirit network," Jiang Chen said flatly. "Lend me your communicator—I need to reach Na'er. Otherwise, I'm sleeping on the street tonight."

Indeed, with his network banned, no contacts reachable, and his dorm taken apart, he had nowhere to go.

"Sure!"

Tang Wulin handed him the device before running off again, chasing after his distraught senior sister.

Jiang Chen sighed and shook his head.

"This story's just getting more and more ridiculous."

He opened the communicator and sent a message.

"I'm Jiang Chen. Got disconnected from the net. Come get me—I'm waiting at the Soul Guidance Building!"
