Chapter 215: Jiang Chen — "Never Abandon a Senior, Never Give Up on a Sister! Wulin, You've Still Got a Lot to Learn!"
The moment Na'er saw the message, she leapt out of bed—barefoot, no shoes—and rushed toward the door.
"Wait for me!"
Jiang Chen, meanwhile, wasn't inclined to chat. After all, the communicator wasn't his, and he found the unfolding drama far too entertaining.
"Hey, isn't that a little rude?"
Ouyang Zixin clearly recognized him too. After all, only a handful of people could be called "legends" at Douluo University.
Jiang Chen, Gu Yue, and Xue'er—the "low-profile trio of hidden monsters."
Then there was Qian Gu Zhangting, heir of the Spirit Transmission Tower, and Tang Wulin—the so-called "Little Godsmith," who had once slain a ten-thousand-year soul beast while only a rank-30 Soul Elder.
Rolling her eyes, Ouyang teased him. Jiang Chen simply shrugged.
"Aren't you watching the show too?"
"This isn't watching, it's protecting my best friend!" she retorted.
He laughed faintly but didn't argue.
Both of them turned their eyes back to the battlefield ahead.
She ran, he chased—well, almost.
Because Tang Wulin soon stopped chasing altogether.
As Mu Xi ran off, Tang Wulin scratched his head in confusion.
"She must have something urgent to do," he muttered. "I'll just message her later."
And that was that. Instead of going after his senior sister, he turned back—after all, wasn't it nicer to spend that time with his beloved senior?
Mu Xi, meanwhile, ran until her brain caught up. Her rage cooled, replaced by clarity. This… this was obviously a trap set by her devious best friend!
She wasn't falling for it.
If she never confessed, she could never be rejected!
She might not win—but she'd never lose either.
But then she looked back—and saw Tang Wulin walking away.
Not chasing her.
Back to Ouyang Zixin.
Her blood boiled.
WHAT!?
You're not chasing me? You went back to her again!?
Furious, Mu Xi stormed back, grabbed Tang Wulin by the collar, and shoved him against the wall.
Tang Wulin: "???"
"Senior Sister?"
Her cheeks flushed bright red as she glared up at him, a hundred words caught in her throat but refusing to come out.
"Tang Wulin," she finally blurted.
"Huh? Senior Sister, is something wrong?"
His clueless expression only made her angrier.
Damn it! Do you really not understand how I feel!?
Every day—"Senior this," "Senior that"—I'm going to end up taking that senior of yours out myself one day!
Ouyang Zixin: "???"
Jiang Chen: "What's happening now?"
Ouyang Zixin: "Nothing… I just feel a chill down my neck."
Mu Xi tightened her grip, staring at his brows, his eyes, his face, his lips—
Tsssch!
"I—I'm fine now!" she squeaked, turning and bolting away.
Jiang Chen and Ouyang Zixin exchanged a look.
"Useless!" they said in unison.
Watching his senior sister disappear again, Tang Wulin tilted his head, perplexed.
"Was she… not feeling well?"
Sighing, he recalled something Xie Xie once said: "Women have a few days every month when they feel unwell."
Ah, that must be it.
When he got back, he accepted Jiang Chen's returned communicator and turned to Ouyang Zixin with a serious face.
"Senior," he said solemnly, "you should drink more hot water."
Ouyang Zixin / Jiang Chen: "…"
"Idiot!"
Jiang Chen sighed, patting his shoulder. "Kid, as your senior, let me give you some advice—never abandon the senior, never give up on the sister. Got it?"
Tang Wulin gaped, then flailed his hands.
"N-no! Brother Jiang Chen, I'm not a scumbag!"
Ouyang Zixin glared at Jiang Chen and turned on her heel, marching back toward the lab.
"Senior! Wait, Senior! My devotion to you is pure and unwavering!"
At that exact moment, Na'er came biking up.
"What happened?"
Jiang Chen waved lazily. "Nothing much. Just another idiot."
Then, slipping effortlessly onto the back seat, he wrapped one arm around her slender waist and grinned.
"So," he drawled, "you packed up all my stuff and moved it yourself, huh? Couldn't wait to live together, is that it? Then why'd you run away last time?"
Na'er frowned at his wandering hand but didn't pull away.
"First, that place was too big—and I wasn't used to it. Second, you were being a jerk and scared me."
Jiang Chen blinked. Was he really that bad back then?
Maybe.
After all, Na'er didn't have the Silver Dragon King's memories anymore. She was just a normal girl—and he'd treated her like an adult.
Yeah… maybe he had scared her.
"Alright," he admitted. "So it's my fault."
"Hmph! I forgive you."
Na'er pedaled on, her hair fluttering behind her in the evening breeze. Golden leaves spiraled across the road.
Jiang Chen smiled, resting a hand over his stomach as he murmured softly,
"Na'er's really grown up."
"Stop touching me! And explain why your link went dead!"
At the mention, his face darkened.
"It was Gu Yue! She went into seclusion and dragged me along—and then, she cut off my access! Completely! I couldn't even message anyone!"
Over the years, he and the Evil-Eyed Tyrant King—son of the Evil Emperor—had become close friends. But Gu Yue's authority eclipsed all.
When she sealed him away, no spirit dared reach out—not even his old comrades.
Na'er's eyes turned stormy. "She did that to you? How arrogant!"
Jiang Chen nodded, smirking.
Na'er, in comparison, was so much easier to handle.
His hand crept upward again.
Na'er flushed bright red, nearly steering the bike into a bush.
"Stop it!"
"I'm just checking," he said innocently. "Seeing how much you've 'grown.'"
"Now then," said Qian Gu Dongfeng, seated at the head of the great conference table in the Spirit Transmission Tower, "all in favor of establishing a new branch overseas—raise your hands."
The meeting room was silent, lined with the Tower's greatest powerhouses.
Next to him sat Deputy Masters Ditian, Leng Yulai, and Huo Yunxiao.
Ditian, an original deputy since the Tower's founding, represented the soul beast race. Though politics had once driven beastkind out, the Huo Family had later restored their status, enabling the present era of harmony between humans and soul beasts.
Huo Yunxiao, a Rank-98 Super Douluo, was one of the Huo Family's elder masters. Though too old to ever reach Limit Douluo, his name carried weight.
Leng Yulai, one of the twin prodigies of the Leng Family, also stood at Rank 98—young, gifted, and potentially on the brink of Level 99.
Below them were the four Chief Spirit Envoys, one of whom was also of the Huo lineage.
And finally—the thirty-six Elders' Council, representing branch towers and senior administrative figures.
Among them sat one notable absentee—the young successor, Qian Gu Zhangting, still finishing his studies at Douluo University before assuming his role as heir apparent.
This assembly would determine the future structure of the entire Spirit Transmission Tower.
