Chapter 106: Eight Star Dou Emperor

The next morning, Nalan Yanran, dressed in a flowing green dress, arrived at the Mittel Clan estate.

"Miss Nalan, this is where Master Xiao Yan and the clan leader reside," said a servant respectfully, gesturing toward the tranquil courtyard.

"Thank you." Nalan Yanran nodded slightly. She remembered Xiao Yan's instructions and brought her grandfather's Seven Colored Fantasy Spirit Saliva to him.

"If there's nothing else, I'll take my leave." The servant smiled and bowed before retreating.

A Storm of Thoughts

As Nalan Yanran gazed at the peaceful courtyard, her delicate brows furrowed slightly.

"Xiao Yan and Ya Fei live here together?" she muttered to herself.

"No wonder he was so eager to annul the engagement. Hmph! A man like that, always chasing after women it's better the engagement ended. If I stayed with him, I'd probably end up with green hair," she huffed, imagining herself metaphorically 'cheated on.'

She let out a cold snort.

"Now that I think about it, his new fiancée must be pitiful too."

Suppressing the frustration bubbling inside her, Nalan Yanran followed the cobblestone path toward the main bedroom.

"Xiao "

Just as she was about to call his name, a strange sound reached her ears. Her brow furrowed as she stepped closer to listen.

What's that noise? she thought. She hesitated, wondering if she should just return home. Yet, remembering her mission, she decided to wait instead.

Waiting and Wondering

"Fine, I'll wait here," she muttered, sitting on a wooden stool near the door.

As she waited, the sun rose higher, and the heat forced her to channel her Dou Qi to shield herself from the warmth. Suddenly, a sharp scream pierced the air.

"That's Ya Fei's voice!"

Right after the scream, an overwhelming aura erupted from inside the room. The energy seemed to ripple through the entire estate, then quickly spread to envelop the entire capital.

The sheer intensity of the aura made Nalan Yanran's soul tremble.

"This guy… Not only is his Dou Qi so strong, but his soul power is terrifying too!"

The atmosphere shifted as the natural energy around them began to churn. A massive vortex formed in the sky, funneling directly toward the courtyard.

"Is Xiao Yan breaking through?" she murmured in surprise, then sighed. "Don't tell me… even doing that can lead to a breakthrough?"

The thought caused her expression to sour.

Over the past few days, every time she encountered Ya Fei, she'd noticed the woman's cultivation improving at an extraordinary rate. Once, Nalan Yanran was clearly superior to Ya Fei in strength. But now, she had to admit that Ya Fei had surpassed her.

"Could her rapid progress be due to… that? What kind of wicked technique are those two cultivating together?" she muttered, pouting slightly.

The Appearance of Flame Dragons

As she continued to stew in her thoughts, two massive flame dragons one black and one white burst through the roof of the building. Their intense heat and majestic presence radiated an overwhelming sense of power and natural balance.

The two dragons opened their maws, greedily devouring the energy in the air before refining it into pure essence, sending it back into the room.

"Those must be… Heavenly Flames?" Nalan Yanran's gaze flickered with shock. At this moment, she realized that nothing was impossible when it came to her former fiancé.

Moments later, a pillar of Dou Qi shot skyward, piercing the heavens and spreading an oppressive aura across half of the capital. Those below the Dou Wang level trembled involuntarily, while even Dou Wang experts found themselves tense.

"Even if he's a shameless scoundrel… his strength is undeniable," Nalan Yanran admitted grudgingly, overwhelmed by the sheer force of his breakthrough.

After three heartbeats, the energy wave receded, condensing back into the small courtyard.

A Familiar Voice

Knowing Xiao Yan had succeeded, Nalan Yanran chose to wait patiently. After some time, Xiao Yan's voice called out from within the room.

"Yanran, is that you? Come on in."

She hesitated for a moment, feeling the urge to turn and leave. However, remembering her responsibilities especially with her sect's ancestor in Xiao Yan's care she pushed open the door and stepped inside.

Inside the Room

The room was tastefully furnished with classic and elegant decor, reflecting Ya Fei's meticulous attention to detail.

Nalan Yanran's gaze swept across the room and landed on Xiao Yan, who was sitting shirtless on the edge of the bed.

"Y You scoundrel!" she exclaimed, quickly covering her eyes.

"Put on your clothes!" she added, though she couldn't help but peek through her fingers.

His toned, well proportioned physique was hard to ignore. Each muscle seemed to exude raw power, as though brimming with explosive energy.

"You'll see this sooner or later anyway," Xiao Yan quipped, smirking as he reached for his clothes.

"Stop peeking. You're looking more through your fingers than you would without them," he teased.

Embarrassed, Nalan Yanran lowered her hands, her face flushed.

"Xiao Yan… er, Xiao Yan gege, I've brought my grandfather's Seven Colored Fantasy Spirit Saliva as you requested," she said, struggling to say "gege" as he had asked her to call him.

"Good. Let's get going," Xiao Yan said, standing up.

"Going where?"

"Outside, of course. Did you think we'd handle this in the bedroom?" He chuckled, flicking her forehead gently.

"Stupid jerk," Nalan Yanran muttered under her breath, rubbing her forehead as she followed him.

Idle Curiosity

As they walked, she glanced around the courtyard. "Where's Ya Fei jie?" she asked, feigning nonchalance.

"She's exhausted. She's sleeping," Xiao Yan replied casually.

"What were you two doing that could tire her out so much?" she asked, her curiosity betraying her usual composure.

"We were doing what you're imagining," Xiao Yan said, leaning in with a teasing grin.

"Perv!" Nalan Yanran turned her head, her cheeks burning. Unbidden, a thought crossed her mind: Will my teacher end up doing the same with this scoundrel?

Her lips pursed slightly as she imagined her teacher's dignity and strength. She wouldn't faint from exhaustion, would she?

The thought brought an inexplicable pang of sadness, though she couldn't quite tell if it was for her teacher or herself.

At the Lake

"Stop overthinking. Just take out the Seven Colored Fantasy Spirit Saliva," Xiao Yan instructed as they arrived at a serene lake.

Caught off guard, Nalan Yanran nearly bumped into him. "Oh, right," she mumbled, her face still flushed.

With a light touch on her storage ring, she retrieved a one foot long jade box, placing it gently in Xiao Yan's hands.
