Chapter 119: The Sect Master Summons You
"Who's blushing?" Nalan Yanran shot a glare at Xiao Yan, meeting his deep black eyes before quickly turning her head away, as if startled.
"Shy, are we?"
Nalan Yanran didn't respond, remaining silent.
Xiao Yan chuckled, flapping his Dou Qi wings a few times before disappearing into the sky.
In the plaza, Liu Ling was still trying to comfort Gu He. Upon seeing Xiao Yan's departure, his vision darkened, and he fainted on the spot.
Once Xiao Yan had disappeared, Yun Shan surveyed the crowd and announced, "Disperse. Today, you witnessed an invaluable demonstration of alchemy. Reflect on what you've learned."
"Yes, Old Sect Master!" the gathered disciples and elders replied, bowing before gradually dispersing.
Yun Shan then turned his gaze to the defeated Gu He and his disciple. With a cold snort, he said, "I'll deal with you later."
Gu He managed a bitter smile as Yun Shan's indifferent expression lingered in his mind.
"Yun Yun, come with me," Yun Shan said, glancing at his disciple.
After a brief hesitation, Yun Yun obediently followed him.
As the others left, Yun Po Tian floated away, carrying his memorial tablet back to the ancestral shrine.
In the shrine, Yun Po Tian carefully placed his tablet at the highest position, above all others. Floating silently, he stared at the tablets of his descendants each now nothing more than an emotionless wooden block while he remained a lingering spirit.
"Reincarnation in a fleshly body... Can Xiao Yan really achieve this?" Yun Po Tian's ethereal form shimmered with a flicker of heat, his hope reignited.
Meanwhile, Xiao Yan and Nalan Yanran flew through the air.
"Yanran."
"Hmm?"
"Turn around and look at me."
"No!"
"I think a bird pooped on my face. Can you wipe it off?" Xiao Yan's voice carried a hint of mischief.
Despite her resistance, Nalan Yanran instinctively turned her head to check.
But his face was perfectly clean free of any bird droppings.
"You " Just as she was about to speak, she noticed his face drawing closer.
A warm sensation brushed against her lips. Nalan Yanran's eyes widened in shock.
"Mmph!"
Her initial instinct was to push him away, but her strength soon faded.
By the time they landed in front of a side hall, Nalan Yanran's legs were trembling, barely able to support her weight.
"You... you scoundrel!" she stammered, her eyes glistening with tears of anger as she tried to walk away.
Yet Xiao Yan held her hand firmly, preventing her escape.
"Let go of me!" she protested, struggling to pull free. But he pulled her into his arms once more.
"How can I, as an honored guest, not enjoy a conversation with the sect's future leader?" Xiao Yan teased, leading her into the side hall.
The doors closed with a click, and Nalan Yanran turned to him warily.
"What do you want?"
"What do I want? Hehe..." Xiao Yan took slow, deliberate steps toward her, cornering her against the wall.
"Brother Xiao Yan, please don't..." Tears welled up in her eyes.
"Relax, I'm just joking. Why are you crying?" Xiao Yan's teasing demeanor softened as he saw her tears.
Nalan Yanran didn't answer. Instead, she suddenly threw herself into his arms, sobbing uncontrollably.
"Alright, alright, I won't tease you anymore," Xiao Yan said, awkwardly patting her on the back.
"Why? Why did you come to my house that day just to call off the engagement? Why wasn't it me?"
Her tearful voice pierced Xiao Yan's heart, and he finally understood why she was crying.
"Ah, my cursed charm!" Xiao Yan sighed, pulling her to sit beside him.
"Yanran, I'll be honest. Even though your looks are average and your chest is flat, I might still consider giving you a place in my harem," Xiao Yan said with a smirk.
Nalan Yanran's sobs stopped abruptly. Her wide, furious eyes fixed on him.
"Ow!"
She grabbed his arm and bit down with all her strength.
"What the hell? Are you part dog?" Xiao Yan yelped in surprise.
"You scumbag! I'll bite you to death!" Nalan Yanran growled through clenched teeth, but her efforts barely left a mark on Xiao Yan's fortified body.
"You already have a fiancée, yet you flirt with Ya Fei, ogle my teacher, and now you're after me!" she muttered angrily, though her teeth couldn't harm him. Eventually, she slumped weakly against his arm.
"Finished venting?" Xiao Yan asked calmly.
She said nothing, her silence speaking volumes.
"Stubborn little thing," Xiao Yan muttered, leaning in to steal another kiss.
"Mmph!"
In the main hall of the sect, Yun Shan sat across from Yun Yun, observing her intently.
The once little girl he had raised had grown into a strong, beautiful woman and a formidable Dou Wang.
"Yun Yun, have you thought about what I said?" Yun Shan finally asked.
"Teacher, I admit Xiao Yan is remarkable, and his backing is extraordinary. But I refuse to do something so degrading," Yun Yun replied, her eyes red and brimming with defiance.
Though she wasn't sure what she felt for Xiao Yan, the idea of offering herself in such a way made her heart resist fiercely.
Seeing her stubborn expression, Yun Shan's eyes narrowed slightly.
"I told you, this is not up for negotiation. Xiao Yan must be won over!"
"And you'd sacrifice my dignity to do it?" Yun Yun's voice trembled with a mix of anger and sorrow.
"What's so wrong with Xiao Yan? He may be a bit of a flirt, but he treats you well. You should recognize this as an opportunity a blessing even," Yun Shan said, his tone firm.
"Xiao Yan may be wonderful," Yun Yun said with a bitter smile. "But I can't bring myself to offer myself like this. Please, Teacher, don't bring this up again. Let fate decide."
She stood to leave, but before she could take a step, an overwhelming surge of Dou Qi sealed her movements.
"Yun Yun, if you're so unwilling, then don't blame me. One day, when you become a Dou Zong or even a Dou Zun, you'll thank me for this!" Yun Shan said coldly.
With a flick of his hand, a strange smoke engulfed Yun Yun's face, and she collapsed, powerless to resist.
"This is the sect's thousand year plan. It's not up to you," Yun Shan muttered, walking out of the hall.
He turned to a female elder outside. "Fetch Xiao Yan and tell him the sect master wishes to see him."
"Yes, Old Sect Master."
Back in the side hall, Xiao Yan leaned back, looking smugly at Nalan Yanran nestled in his arms.
"Who would've thought I'd win over the disciple before the master?" he joked.
"Hmph," Nalan Yanran huffed, burying her face deeper into his chest.
"Xiao Yan, the sect master has summoned you," an elder's voice called from outside.
Both Xiao Yan and Nalan Yanran looked up in surprise.
