Chapter 120: A Slap Across the Face
"I got it! I'll be there soon!" Xiao Yan replied casually, though a grin crept across his face.
"Idiot!" Nalan Yanran huffed, twisting Xiao Yan's waist sharply.
"What are you doing? I'm going to discuss serious matters with your teacher," Xiao Yan said, frowning at her.
Over the years, she was the first girl who dared to twist his waist like that.
"Hmph! What serious matters could you possibly have? You're clearly just lusting after my teacher," Nalan Yanran said, glaring at him.
"Hehe, not just your teacher I'm lusting after you too," Xiao Yan teased with a mischievous laugh, making Nalan Yanran's cheeks flush red once more.
"You're such a scumbag. Meeting you must be the unluckiest thing that's ever happened to me," Nalan Yanran sighed, shaking her head.
"Unlucky? The moment I set my eyes on you, escaping my grasp became impossible!" Xiao Yan planted a quick kiss on her cheek before standing up.
"Xiao Yan!" Nalan Yanran called out as he was about to leave.
"What is it, sweetheart?"
"Can you stop being so disgusting?" she thought silently, but what she said was more hesitant. "Just... be nice to my teacher, okay?"
Realizing what she meant, Xiao Yan grinned and nodded. "Got it. And I'll be nice to you too."
With that, he left the room, leaving Nalan Yanran glaring after him.
"This scoundrel!" she muttered angrily, but her mind wandered back to their interactions over the past days.
Before she knew it, his figure had become etched in her heart.
"Scumbag!" she muttered again, though a small, involuntary smile tugged at her lips.
The Sect Master's Hall wasn't far from the side chamber. It didn't take Xiao Yan long to arrive.
Suppressing his inner excitement, he knocked gently on the door.
"Cloud Sect Master?"
No response.
"Yun Yun?"
Still nothing.
"Yun'er? Darling?" Xiao Yan tried several variations, even knocking again, but the hall remained eerily silent.
"Damn it, is this woman standing me up?" Losing patience, Xiao Yan pushed the doors open.
The hall was vast, but Xiao Yan relied on his soul perception to find Yun Yun's personal quarters quickly.
When he opened the door, his expression turned strange.
The room was bathed in soft candlelight, the warm glow giving the air a nostalgic golden hue.
In the middle of the room sat a beautiful figure dressed in a bright red wedding gown. Her hair was styled in an elegant bridal updo, and her face was hidden beneath a red veil.
Despite the modesty of her attire, her alluring curves were impossible to miss.
"The Yun Lan Sect plays like this?" Xiao Yan thought, swallowing nervously.
Wedding gown play?
This was... exciting!
He approached the "bride" with a sly smile, feigning shyness. "Yun'er, I didn't expect you to feel this way about me."
"This is so touching. I like it. I really do."
As he spoke, he reached out and lifted the veil, humming softly, "Let me lift your veil and see your lovely face!"
Beneath the veil was Yun Yun's stunning, blushing face. Her breathing was shallow, and her cheeks were flushed a deep red.
"Hmm?" Xiao Yan frowned, quickly realizing that something was wrong. Her body was restrained by a restriction, and she'd been drugged.
"Was this Yun Shan's doing? That old man really went all out to curry favor with me," Xiao Yan muttered, shaking his head.
When he looked into Yun Yun's misty, tear filled eyes, he sighed. "What's the fun if you can't move?"
He released a surge of Dou Qi, breaking the restriction on her.
"Xiao Yan..." Yun Yun's voice trembled as she met his gaze. Her misty eyes reflected a mixture of shame and struggle.
"Don't do this..."
"Don't do what?" Xiao Yan asked, sitting beside her with feigned innocence.
"Don't come near me... I don't want this," Yun Yun said, her voice laced with conflict.
"Yun'er, dressed like this, weren't you waiting for me?" Xiao Yan teased, pulling her into his arms.
"You knew this day would come sooner or later," he said, leaning in for a kiss.
"Mm!" Yun Yun's eyes widened as her emotions overwhelmed her.
Slap!
The sharp sound echoed through the room.
Xiao Yan froze, touching his cheek in disbelief.
"Did this woman just slap me?"
"Please... don't force me," Yun Yun said, her tone filled with sorrow.
"I understand," Xiao Yan said after a moment of silence, his expression softening.
He produced a light blue pill and gently placed it in her mouth.
The pill dissolved instantly, and soon Yun Yun's complexion returned to normal. Beads of sweat glistened on her flushed skin as clarity returned to her eyes.
"I'm sorry," she murmured.
"It's me who should apologize. My methods were too low," Xiao Yan said, shaking his head with a self deprecating smile. "From tonight onward, I won't bother you again. This is the end."
With that, his Dou Qi wings unfurled, and he left the hall without looking back.
"Xiao Yan..." Yun Yun whispered, her voice trembling. She watched his figure disappear into the night, a strange emptiness swelling in her chest. Tears fell unbidden from her eyes.
Late that night, Ya Fei was in her room, reviewing her account books under the warm glow of candlelight.
A shadow flitted across the window, startling her.
The door creaked open, and she tensed, but when she saw Xiao Yan's face, she relaxed.
"You scared me! What are you doing back so late?"
Xiao Yan didn't respond, simply walking in with a smile.
"Hmm? Something feels off," Ya Fei thought, her sharp instincts picking up on his unusual mood.
"Spending three days at the Yun Lan Sect... it seems the Sect Master is quite charming," she teased.
"She is charming," Xiao Yan replied nonchalantly, shaking his head.
His tone made Ya Fei frown slightly. "What's wrong?"
She sat on his lap, her tone gentle.
"Nothing. I just missed you," Xiao Yan said, his smile softening as he felt her warmth.
Ah, mature women... so considerate.
"Really? How much did you miss me?" Ya Fei asked playfully, leaning in close to his ear.
"How much? You'll have to find out for yourself!" Xiao Yan said, his grin turning wicked.
