Chapter 148: Capturing the Beast Sovereign
Two elderly figures appeared behind Xiao Yan, their feet stepping lightly on the void as they coldly observed the Beast Sovereign.
"Old fool, do you know what crime you've committed by attacking the Young Master of the Xiao Clan?"
Ignoring the tense look on the Beast Sovereign's face, Xiao Wu asked icily.
"This..." The Beast Sovereign's expression turned pale, then green, before he forced out an awkward smile. "Haha... this is all just a misunderstanding... a simple misunderstanding."
The moment he attacked earlier, he felt the terrifying strength radiating from the two old men. They were clearly no weaker than him. If a fight broke out, victory was uncertain, and it would be impossible to kill them both.
If these two returned to the Xiao Clan and reported the matter, he might find himself hunted across the continent. If it came to that, even Dou Saints might be sent to capture him.
"Misunderstanding?" Xiao Wu snorted coldly, staring at the Beast Sovereign disdainfully. "If it's truly a misunderstanding, then why don't you hurry up and apologize to our Young Master? Didn't he clearly ask you to hand over the Seven Colored Demon Saint's Reverse Scale?"
"You!" The Beast Sovereign's face darkened.
"Your Excellency, how is this different from outright robbery?"
Behind him, a group of seventh tier magical beasts exchanged confused glances.
Who were these humans? How could they be so brazen? And yet, their sovereign seemed deeply apprehensive. Their curiosity about the young man's identity only grew.
"Heh, we never said we weren't robbing you!" Xiao Wu grinned like a bandit, his tone dripping with menace.

"Feathered fool, let's cut to the chase. Hand over the Demon Saint's Reverse Scale, or we'll extract your magic core and turn it into medicine," sneered You Mo, the Nether Serpent.
The Beast Sovereign's anger boiled over. "You're a disgrace to the magical beast race, You Mo! The Demon Saint's inheritance is a treasure of our kind, and yet you've betrayed us to serve as a lackey for humans!"
"Mind your words! I'm no lackey I'm a Guardian Beast of the Xiao Clan! You, a wild beast, could never compare," You Mo shot back, completely unabashed.
"You should surrender now. Maybe our Young Master will be kind enough to grant you a position as a Guardian Beast as well."
"Ridiculous! Do you think I, a proud Phantom Lightning Hawk, would stoop to being someone's guard dog?" the Beast Sovereign roared, his voice full of contempt.
"Fine then. If I can't defeat you, I'll flee. Let's see if you can catch me," the Beast Sovereign thought grimly.
"Since you insist on pushing me, don't blame me for what happens next!"
With a low growl, the Beast Sovereign's back erupted with dark clouds, which churned into a sea of black and purple lightning.
"Phantom Lightning Strike!"
Purple streaks of lightning surged forth, creating a cataclysmic storm that lit up the skies. The sight sent the seventh tier magical beasts fleeing in panic any one of those bolts could obliterate them.
"Rumble!"
The deafening sound of thunder echoed across the mountain range as a sea of lightning crashed down upon Xiao Yan's group.
"Master, I'll leave this to you!" You Mo instantly retreated, shrinking into a streak of light and vanishing into Xiao Yan's ring.
"Heh. Child's play."
Xiao Wu smirked as he raised his hand. Instantly, the energy in the area surged violently, like boiling water. Flames erupted from the void, forming a massive barrier that effortlessly blocked the incoming lightning storm.
The blazing fire reduced the terrifying purple lightning to harmless embers, and the intense heat turned the surrounding area into a scorching inferno, reshaping the environment for miles.
"Screech!"
A piercing cry resounded as a massive purple hawk appeared above the peak. Its wings stretched over a hundred meters, blotting out the sun.
"The Beast Sovereign has revealed his true form!"
The seventh tier magical beasts watching from afar were stunned. The Beast Sovereign, known as the final king of the Magical Beast Mountain Range, was forced to unveil his true form.
With a powerful flap of its wings, the hawk unleashed a barrage of feathers, each as sharp as a blade, hurtling toward Xiao Yan and his companions.
"Such a trivial trick?" Xiao Wu sneered.
With a wave of his hand, a colossal flame engulfed the feathers, reducing them to ash.
When the flames dissipated, the hawk had turned to flee.
"Trying to escape?" Xiao Wu chuckled darkly.
"Humans! The Demon Saint's inheritance is a treasure too great for you! You'll never take it from me!" the Beast Sovereign roared as it soared into the distance, its speed far surpassing anything ordinary eyes could follow.
"Even if your strength matches mine, your speed could never compare to mine! I'm a Phantom Lightning Hawk, a breed born of unparalleled swiftness. Even an eight star Dou Zun wouldn't be able to catch me!"
Just as the Beast Sovereign was congratulating itself, a ripple in space behind it caused its heart to skip a beat.
"No... this can't be!"
Panic surged through the Beast Sovereign as it tried to accelerate.
But before it could flee, nine colossal water dragons formed in front of it, blocking its path. Behind it, nine flaming dragons erupted, encircling it completely.
"Break free!"
The Beast Sovereign slashed at the elemental dragons with its wings, but they deflected the attack with ease.
The water and fire dragons intertwined, forming an enormous spherical cage that trapped the Beast Sovereign within.
The giant hawk thrashed wildly, but it couldn't break free. Its eyes filled with despair.
"Y you're not Dou Zuns... you're Half Saints!"
