Chapter 183: Tianmeng Iceworm Turns Green With Envy
"W-What?!"
The Tianmeng Iceworm's shriek came out shrill and trembling, its voice twisting in disbelief. "Spirit Wisdom Ring?! Ice Empress, what did you just say—Spirit Wisdom Ring?!"
For a few moments, it wondered if it had misheard, overwhelmed by emotion.
A Spirit Wisdom Ring was its own great invention—born from centuries of desperate contemplation under the threat of extinction.
Only it knew the secret of how to create one. How could the Ice Empress possibly know?
Where had she learned it from?
And how could she also know that it had become a Spirit Wisdom Ring in the first place?
Before this day, it had never revealed its existence to anyone!
But what shocked it even more—why was her Spirit Wisdom Ring different?
She had a body—flesh, blood, and breath—able to eat and drink like a real living being. Meanwhile, it was just a condensed form of soul energy, a glowing bug.
Was the difference really that huge?
"No, wait—none of that matters!"
The Tianmeng Iceworm shook its fat, gleaming head violently, its voice rising in panic.
"Ice Empress, you… you chose him?! He's human! Xiao Bingbing, weren't you the one who always despised humans? Why would you form a contract with one? Why would you become his Spirit Wisdom Ring?!"
It was losing its composure entirely.
It had schemed for so long—endured endless ages trapped in its dying body—all to prepare for this one monumental plan.
Once Huo Yuhao reached level 20, it had intended to "convince" (well, maybe trick) the Ice Empress to become Huo Yuhao's second martial soul.
A powerful Ultimate Ice martial soul, combined with its own million-year ring—together, they would forge a peerless monster destined for godhood!
Even better, through Huo Yuhao's body, it could stay with its beloved Ice Empress forever.
The plan was perfect.
But before it could even begin, everything fell apart.
The Ice Empress—his beloved Ice Empress—had been taken by someone else! And just look how close she was to that man!
How could it accept such a thing?
She was supposed to be his!
He was a million-year soul beast—how could a human thief take her away?
What, just because the man had a nice face?!
But through all of Tianmeng's emotional ranting, the Ice Empress's expression didn't change in the slightest.
Her face was calm, her golden eyes cold, filled with faint disdain as she looked between Tianmeng and his host, Huo Yuhao.
"A human?"
Her tone carried a hint of mockery as her beautiful gaze fell lazily upon Tianmeng. Then, nodding toward Huo Yuhao beneath it, she chuckled. "Aren't you also following a human? And such a weak one at that. If I'm not mistaken, this boy isn't even past level twenty, is he?"
"I…"
The Tianmeng Iceworm froze, its plump white face turning red with embarrassment.
Huo Yuhao, equally mortified at being looked down on like this, clenched his tiny fists and lifted his chin stubbornly. "I'm just not fully developed yet! I'll become really strong one day!"
Since Tianmeng had never shared the details about the Ice Empress with him, Huo Yuhao had no idea that his supposed opportunity had already been snatched away by Ye Chen.
He still believed that once he reached level 20, he would overturn fate—rise to the apex of the world.
With his naturally unyielding personality, being insulted only fueled his defiance further.
But the Ice Empress didn't even spare him a glance. She looked back at Tianmeng with a faint smirk. "You're a million-year soul beast, yet you willingly serve a weakling as a Spirit Wisdom Ring. Meanwhile, my host is a Soul Emperor before reaching full adulthood. Tell me, Tianmeng, are you sure your brain didn't get frostbite during those long centuries of sleep?"
Her words struck like a thunderclap straight into Tianmeng's heart.
"N-No! It's not like that! You don't understand, Ice Empress!"
It flailed its plump body, swelling and twitching as it tried to defend itself. "My Yuhao has immense potential! His future is limitless! And his first spirit ring is me—the one and only million-year ring on the entire continent!"
"I can provide him with endless mental energy. As long as you join us—"
The Tianmeng Iceworm's tone became almost seductive, tinged with desperation.
"Ice Empress, if you abandon your current host and offer your essence to Yuhao, merging fully as his second martial soul—then under my guidance, together we can transform him completely. He'll gain the purest Ultimate Ice and the strongest Spirit attribute. He'll ascend beyond all others and one day become a god!"
"Ice Empress, this is the chance of an era! Everything I do, it's for you—no, for us! We're both soul beasts! You know I'd never harm you. Believe me, please!"
Even the Tianmeng Iceworm itself almost bought into its own speech.
And yet, its logic wasn't entirely baseless. After all, its weakened spirit form couldn't merge with anyone physically—it lacked a body and the essential beast essence, relying purely on soul energy.
But the Ice Empress was different.
She hadn't been fused with Ye Chen for long.
No matter how powerful he was, he couldn't have fully absorbed her yet—the majority of her essence still lingered within seals.
If she were to abandon Ye Chen and merge with Huo Yuhao instead, she'd lose some of that power, but she'd survive—and Huo Yuhao would gain unthinkable strength.
For him, it would be a heaven-defying opportunity.
Together, Tianmeng and Ice Empress could push Huo Yuhao toward godhood itself.
"Wait a second…"
The Ice Empress interrupted his rambling dream with an icy tone. Her lips quirked upward in faint ridicule.
"So, you're saying I should give up Ye Chen—who wields Ultimate Ice and is destined to become the strongest on the continent—and choose instead a weakling with a useless martial soul, rotten talent, and barely a century's lifespan?"
She actually couldn't hold back a cold laugh.
"Tianmeng, I know your brain's been frozen for a long time, but could you please stop assuming everyone else's mind is as damaged as yours?"
Her golden eyes softened into pity—the sort one might give a particularly slow child.
It was honestly unbelievable.
This was the same Tianmeng Iceworm who'd outsmarted countless enemies, evaded her pursuit for decades, and survived against impossible odds.
Now, he'd fallen so low—not only delusional but apparently half-witted.
