You know, acting as if you didn't know someone's problems beforehand was crazy work.
Listening to Brook talk about how he lost his shadow and so on.
"I'm absolutely stuffed!
...Though I have no stomach! YOHOHOHO!"
Luffy laughed a bit. Kairo had zero reaction—bone jokes weren't his forte.
Brook spoke about how he was part of a crew before all this started, how he got lost, and everything that followed.
"Though I suppose you would know that, since you have one of them in your crew." Kairo finally left his mental scape to look at Brook.
Neat. So the guy was aware of his clan—which, the more he thought about it, the worse the situation looked.
The clan was supposed to be super secret, and yet everyone he seemed to meet was aware of it in some way or another.
This probably had something to do with the giant screen recorder currently playing on loop at the Red Line: footage of the Marines slaughtering the Lunarians.
Kairo was unaware of those memories, but they were coming to him—as a final act of "fuck you" to the World Government, this was being played on loop.
Though Kairo knew how slimy they were, this wasn't enough to scare them. An admiral could just come in and destroy everything.
Yet six years had passed and not a single thing had been done about it, which meant there was a reason.
The Lunarians probably had some kind of leverage—something that triggered if Marines or certain symbols got too close to the Red Line. Then the videos of the god hunts would begin to play.
Or something Mu wouldn't like. It was probably that.
His eyes turned a shade darker for a second.
"Ninja guy knows a lot about the world. He knew about you," Luffy said, beaming. Kairo felt like his influence was making Luffy more childlike, more free.
As if he had less to worry about. Kairo didn't think too deeply about it, though the fact that Luffy's eyes would sometimes flicker red—looking like his awakened form's eyes in the anime—did send a chill down his spine.
It felt like a horrible idea to make Luffy go through the abyss, because from the knowledge of this body and all he knew about this world—
Nika would be in the abyss.
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK.
Now he had to speedrun Luffy's growth. That was going to be annoying as fuck. {Foreshadow since 104, technically since Alabasta when he first went through the abyss}
"I had some light files on you," Kairo said nonchalantly to Brook.
"I know you were part of a kingdom—high-ranking at that. I know you became a pirate after. And I know your shadow was taken by Moria, that you're now stuck here, and that you used to serve a princess named Shura."
"I see..." Brook's brows would have furrowed—if he had any. His bones made the motion instead.
The temperature seemed to drop, and for a second Kairo was pondering sliming the skeleton out if he even so much as tried to reach for his blade.
About to turn into a cop pulling over a minority—any sign they could have a weapon would result in twenty bullets. In this case, several slashes that would instantly kill the skeleton.
"Or rather, I don't see at all! Because I have no eyes! YOHOHOHO!"
And just like that, the cold that had been felt around them vanished. Kairo's hand was still nearing his blade—something that caught Zoro's attention. He wasn't going to question it.
That was something he'd noticed about Kairo: he seemed trigger-happy. No—not that. More like he was willing to cut any loose ends before they even formed.
If you were even an ounce of a threat, you could and would get slimed out.
Though that was only if Luffy wasn't around. It seemed like he could control himself around Luffy.
Which also meant that if Luffy or Nami hadn't been there in the cage back in Alabasta, Smoker would've gotten slimed out.
Kairo had thought about doing it, but he kinda needed Nami not to see him as a murderer since, you know, he had to teach her stuff in the future. It'd be kinda hard to teach someone if their view of you was that you'd kill them if they showed any sign of being a threat.
"So... do you poop?" Luffy seemed curious, and Kairo was confused—not because Luffy asked such a question, but because he hadn't asked it before and only said it now.
"Out of all the questions you could ask, you ask this?!" Nami was annoyed, like there were more important questions than this.
Brook sipped some tea for a bit.
Before looking up at Luffy and saying,
"Yes, I do."
Kairo was getting used to seeing stars in his captain's eyes.
"It shouldn't be possible—he doesn't have a digestive system. Where does the waste come from..." Chopper seemed to be having a meltdown, his doctor brain unable to comprehend how someone could poop with no organs.
Poop was waste—shit your body couldn't fully digest or couldn't fully transform into energy or supply—so how the fuck could a skeleton poop?
A/N do keep in mind that he will get rid of any loose end in mind, that mindset come in play later.
