Chapter 301 - Chapter 301: Now It’s Time to Read the Kit

Watching Nero Is My Dad's pulls and the flood of scrolling comments, Yellow Pee Bro took a deep breath.

For a moment, he felt like the game was specifically targeting him.

But he quickly pulled himself together, closed Nero Is My Dad's stream, and started building the Nero he had just pulled.

To be fair, Yellow Pee Bro really did like this game.

Of course, even if he had truly become completely disappointed with it, there were still reasons for him to keep playing.

After all, he had already spent the money. If he just stopped playing right after pulling, that would feel like a waste. Wouldn't that leave a bad taste in his mouth?

Rich guys might have money, but that doesn't mean they can treat money like it's nothing.

Yellow Pee Bro had fully prepared for Nero's arrival. All the materials had already been farmed.

Compared to how Nero was handled before, on this version they hadn't made a dedicated relic set for him.

They had just added another weekly boss besides Phantylia, Jettok, whose drops included "Half-Burnt Mirror Shard," which Nero needed to upgrade his traces.

Yellow Pee Bro quickly maxed out Nero's level, light cone, and skills, then equipped the pre-farmed Wind set and the "Stop Turning" set.

After that, he began a full appraisal of the character Nero.

As a playable character, Nero's appearance was simple. His long hair was tied casually into a high ponytail. There were no flashy accessories.

He wore a loose white robe that resembled a Daoist outfit, with two jade pendants hanging at his waist, one shaped like an auspicious cloud, the other a jade rabbit.

Compared to other characters, his outfit and decorations weren't complex. It seemed like the developers deliberately emphasized Nero's purity through his design.

Meanwhile, in other aspects of the model, like the softness of his hair and the fluidity of his movements, everything felt more refined, as if there was an extra layer of warm light over him.

Nero had two idle animations.

In the first one, he would pull out a backpack and rummage through it. He might take out one of four items: a white bandit hood, a green fish head mask, the coat gifted by Aventurine, or the cat-ear plush hat given by Topaz.

After taking them out, he would put them on and perform different actions.

If he put on the bandit hood, a shadow would fall over him, and Black Cutter would appear behind him with an imposing aura. Then he would say in a flat, exaggerated tone, "Heh heh heh, you're done for!"

If he wore the green fish head mask, Nero would tilt his little face up and say in a commanding tone, "I am Nero. You must call me Nero. Nothing else. It has to be Nero!"

If he put on the coat given by Aventurine (of course, players didn't know about this character yet), Nero would also casually put on sunglasses, strike a hands-on-hips or arms-crossed pose, and when the wind blew, the coat would flutter dramatically.

Finally, if he wore the cat-ear plush hat from Topaz, rainbow bubbles would pop up around him, and he would mutter softly, "Meow~ meow? Ahem… Sister Topaz said if you wear this and meow like a cat, any wish will come true. But after testing it myself, I found out that was a lie."

As for Nero's second idle animation, when it triggered, Nero would jump up and sit on Black Cutter, a massive, ancient-looking weapon entirely black, lacking patterns, shaped like a Han sword. Around Nero, stars would appear, and within that starlight, shadows would form.

For example, there would be figures like the Aeons of Elation, Hunt, Destruction, Harmony, and Abundance.

Or the members of the Astral Express crew. Or friends he met in Belobog and the Xianzhou, like Clara, or the four young ones of the Luofu.

It was hard to imagine what kind of workload this represented, but since the one doing it was System Secretary, then it made sense.

The System Secretary's capability was unexpectedly impressive.

When Nero moved around in the overworld, he didn't ride a sword whether walking, running, or sprinting, but there were still differences.

Walking and running looked similar to other characters, but when sprinting, a green whirlwind would swirl around him, and he would dash forward in long strides.

His movements looked light and agile, like a fish in water, a leopard on land, a dragon in the clouds, a tiger in the wind…

Of course, since it wasn't a technique, the actual speed didn't change.

When encountering strong enemies, his voice line was one that had already appeared in the preview, something players were both familiar with and looking forward to: "Our factory just needs talents like you!"

From Nero's excited tone, it was clear he genuinely wanted to drag the enemy back to work.

Although Qingque and Nero had a good relationship, from a certain angle, the latter might be exactly the kind of person Qingque found terrifying.

After that, through testing, Yellow Pee Bro found a pleasant surprise in Nero's basic attack when entering combat, because it actually had two variations.

Even though Nero's weapon, Black Cutter, was a massive and heavy melee weapon, his attack lock-on range was long-distance.

When using his basic attack in the overworld, Nero would extend a finger and lightly tap in front of him.

Then Black Cutter would fall from the sky and slam into the ground. If an enemy was targeted, it would smash directly onto the enemy's head.

When a target was locked, there was also a chance Nero would perform a second action, the familiar jumping slash.

During this process, Nero could use Black Cutter, a weapon from someone in the team, or even objects within visible range on the map, like a trash can, or even an enemy, to perform the jumping strike on the target.

If he picked up an enemy, then that group of enemies would be instantly eliminated without entering combat. It counted as a rare but amusing hidden mechanic.

It was also worth noting that once Nero jumped for the slash, he could dodge attacks mid-air, though it was hard to imagine how often that would actually matter in this game…

These little hidden details made Yellow Pee Bro repeatedly wonder if the big-shot designer mentioned by "I'm Really Not a Leaker," the one supposedly fully responsible for Nero, just had too much free time.

Of course, he really liked this kind of design, but that didn't stop him from thinking the designer had way too much time on their hands.

After going through all that, Yellow Pee Bro moved on to check the more basic things.

Nero's skills and stats…

Without any relics or light cone equipped, and with no traces upgraded, Nero's level 80 stats were as follows:

[HP: 1100, ATK: 698, DEF: 446, Speed: 103, Crit Rate: 5%, Crit Damage: 50%]

As for Nero's five-star light cone, "Brilliance Imprinted," at level 80 its stats were:

[HP: 1000, ATK: 577, DEF: 420]

From refinement level 1 to 5, this light cone granted the additional effect "Body in Dream":

[It increases the wearer's Crit Rate by 18%/21%/24%/27%/30%, and follow-up attack damage by 24%/30%/36%/42%/48%. When the wearer's attack hits an enemy, it inflicts the "Drowning Dream" state on the target for 2 turns. After that, every time the wearer hits an enemy in the "Drowning Dream" state, the target's Speed is reduced by 5% for 1 turn.]
