Matt moved through the forest .
The shroud was tight around him, the beast handling the hiding, leaving Matt free to focus on the mission. Behind him, Sam and Sid followed in silence, their steps careful, their eyes scanning the darkness. Maren had gone ahead to create the distraction, a fire at the edge of Harry's camp, something to draw the wolves away from the ceremonial ground.
It was a risky plan. But It was the only plan they had.
Matt's mind churned as they moved. Yvonne was out there somewhere, alone, lost in the darkness. The Harkma blood pulled at him, urging him to find her, to protect her, to bring her back.
But Maren was right. Harry was the immediate threat. If they didn't stop him tonight, there would be no future for any of them.
"Stay close," Matt whispered. "The shroud covers us, but only if we're touching."
