Zane;
"Stay here," I tell her, and she nods slowly.
"Okay." She replies as she folds her hands behind her.
I turn and walk toward the captain's office.
The moment I get in, I introduce myself and get straight to the point.
The conversation is not long. But it is… firm.
"It was self-defence," I state, and the young man sighs.
"We understand that, sir, but—"
"She is not spending a night here." I point out flatly, and his jaw drops.
"Mr. Zane, she assaulted—" He begins, but I lift a finger to stop him.
"She protected someone."
"That doesn't erase—" He tries to counter, but I've had enough. Anu had a long day, and I'm pretty sure she needs to rest.
I'm not wasting any more time here.
"It does when there are witnesses, cameras. And a victim willing to testify."
The young man pauses as he stares at me, and I know he knows there's no way he can or will get Anu to pass a night here, no matter who she knocked out.
