Chapter 62 - Clearing the Land Together

After settling the cubs down, the adults enthusiastically threw themselves into the work and Hayoon joined in as well.

She was a cat-type sub-beastman, so the claws she transformed were not sharp enough.

Fortunately, she had already prepared many tools beforehand.

The other sub-beastmen each had their own methods too.

Some pulled weeds while others cleared away stones.

The ones contributing the most strength were naturally the beastmen.

After transforming into their beast forms, they simply scraped the ground a few times with their claws, and huge sections of soil were instantly overturned.

Only then did Hayoon truly understand what Minho had meant earlier when he said, "There is not much I can help with."

His beast form was a giant pure white python without sharp claws, making him unsuited for work like digging.

Amid the flying dust, Hayoon secretly laughed to herself.

How rare.

There was actually something Minho was bad at.

Very soon, however, she stopped laughing.

That was because she saw Minho walk over to a tree.

The tree was still fairly young. Its trunk was not as thick as the ones Hayoon had seen in the wilderness before, but it was still about as wide as a beastman's waist.

Minho calmly sized it up for a moment before spreading his arms and wrapping them around the trunk.

His long legs stepped apart, one forward and one back, before stomping heavily against the ground.

At the same time, his waist, abdomen, and arms all exerted force together.

Hayoon heard a terrifying series of cracking sounds.

The ground around the tree trembled violently.

As Minho continued straining, he clenched his teeth tightly.

His sharp jawline tensed, and a muffled grunt escaped his throat.

Crack! Craaash!

Countless roots buried deep underground were violently torn apart.

Minho actually uprooted the entire tree with his bare hands.

Clumps of dirt flew everywhere from the force.

Hayoon stared blankly as he casually tossed the tree aside and calmly flexed his wrists as if nothing had happened.

Wait a second.

Why did he look more relaxed uprooting an entire tree than she did pulling weeds?

What terrifying strength!!

"Whoa, Minho. As expected of you! Your strength is unbelievable!" Sulwoo shouted after noticing the commotion. "Perfect timing. There is another tree over here too. Come pull this one out as well."

Beom teased, "Sulwoo, you are clearly standing closer to the tree."

Sulwoo spread out his giant bear paws. "My human form is not nearly as strong as Minho's."

Beom fell silent for a second. "...But aren't you in beast form right now?"

A giant bear over ten meters tall could not pull out a single tree?

Sulwoo rolled his bear eyes dramatically. "I have not even finished turning over my section of land yet."

Leeho suddenly added bluntly, "Maybe he remembered getting pinned to the ground and beaten by Minho in human form during the warrior competition a few years ago, so now he feels embarrassed."

Sulwoo froze before roaring furiously, "Who is embarrassed?! It is just pulling out a tree! I will do it right now!"

Leeho still had not realized the seriousness of the situation and innocently asked, "You are doing it in human form?"

Sulwoo ground his teeth together. "...Human form it is!"

Immo helplessly pressed a hand against her forehead and shot Leeho a sharp glare. "Focus on your own work."

The honest and simple-minded Leeho replied obediently, "Oh."

Since Sulwoo had already boldly declared it, he stomped heavily toward the tree.

But Beom quickly blocked him, and the two giant bears immediately began loudly arguing about something.

Minho strode past them without even sparing them a glance.

He walked over to the remaining tree, wrapped his arms around it, exerted force, and with a loud crack, uprooted that one too.

Sulwoo nearly collapsed in frustration. "I already said I was going to pull it out!!"

Hayoon witnessed the entire scene while crouching on the ground, laughing so hard that her shoulders shook nonstop.

Now she finally understood why everyone enjoyed gathering together for activities.

It really was fun.

The beastmen possessed overwhelming physical strength, the sub-beastmen were patient and meticulous, and the cubs occasionally caused a little harmless trouble.

The land-clearing work that Hayoon had originally expected to take half a month was completed in less than half a morning.

Not only had everyone finished clearing the area Hayoon needed, but they had also cleaned an additional section nearby to use for firing pottery.

There were actually quite a few families in the same situation as Minho.

"Since it is already this late anyway, how about we skip gathering today?" Sulyeon suggested after glancing at the sky before turning to Immo for his opinion. "We can stay and fire pottery together with everyone."

Immo thought for a moment before nodding.

"Alright. Have your father go gather firewood."

Making pottery required collecting clay and shaping pottery blanks first, and delicate work like that was naturally better suited for the dexterous sub-beastmen.

Without even needing Hayoon to say anything, everyone quickly divided the tasks among themselves.

The clay used for firing pottery was yellow clay.

After being transported back, the wet clay was piled onto the ground.

A group of sub-beastmen sat around the clay while chatting and shaping pottery blanks together.

Hayoon's pottery-making skills were still clumsy.

By the time other people had already made three pottery blanks, she had barely finished one, and it looked ugly enough to make her feel embarrassed.

Thinking about her two pottery pieces, she suddenly asked, "The tribe used to trade pottery from the Voz-Karr Tribe, right?"

Sulyeon nodded. "Yes. The Voz-Karr Tribe has pottery kilns, and the pottery they fire is much more durable. But they are incredibly arrogant. They refuse all other supplies and only want our red clay. It takes enough red clay to make twenty pottery pieces just to exchange for one finished pottery item. It is outrageously unfair."

Hayoon nodded.

That exchange ratio truly was outrageous.

Yeonhwa also sighed emotionally. "If only our tribe had pottery kilns too."
