Bryan's POV
I sat in the waiting room while they operated on Alice and I couldn't stop my hands from shaking, because what if I lost them both, what if the baby didn't make it and Alice blamed me for the stress I'd caused.
"Mr Hale," a nurse said coming through the doors. "Your wife is out of surgery."
"Is she okay?" I asked jumping up. "Is the baby okay?"
"The doctor will be out to speak with you shortly," she said, and I wanted to scream because I needed answers now, not shortly.
I paced the waiting room for another twenty minutes before the doctor finally came out looking exhausted.
"Mr Hale, your wife is stable," she said. "We had to perform an emergency C-section because the baby was in distress."
"And the baby?" I demanded. "Doctor is my daughter alive?"
"She's alive but she's very small," she explained. "Mr Hale, your daughter was born at seven months and she weighs only three pounds, we've taken her to the NICU."
