Travis watches his mate nap, the paws having shifted to his hand now enveloping Day's head, cradling him close to his chest as they lie on the rug in the living room floor.
He has been avoiding him to avoid doing something that would hurt him. he didn't trust himself until he could keep everything under control.
When Day walked in and saw him, Travis feared for the worst.
But then Day cuddled with him, even in that state, and the whole of Travis was out of his mind with fear that he would feel a need to take him roughly or even hurt him; none of that happened.
Instead, Day calmed him, and he managed to fall asleep, the energy that was eating him alive from inside settling into the depths of his being, like calm waters, and he was able to breathe properly for the first time that day.
