Derek Su felt he really was an emotionally stable person.
He had actually managed to hold back that much anger just now.
He had noticed what Leon Li and Snowpeak said earlier. Confinement.
When they mentioned confinement, there had been obvious fear in both Leon Li's and Snowpeak's eyes.
Then, considering the personality of that old bastard Ethan Yang, it was basically certain that this "confinement" meant being locked in a proper dark room!
Twenty-four hours shut away, with no daylight, no sound, no light, and probably no food either.
Without a doubt, this kind of punishment was mental torture for both Mecha Girls and drivers.
And Leon Li and Snowpeak had clearly gone through it more than once.
They had probably been punished like this before after losing races.
That made it obvious that although Leon Li and Snowpeak were the aces of Crown Club, life under Ethan Yang's shadow was not exactly pleasant~
Leon Li realized he had said the wrong thing the moment the words left his mouth. He had simply been too desperate to complete Ethan Yang's task. Now, feeling the angry stares from the Mecha Girls around him, he knew things had gone bad, and he did not even dare look Derek Su in the eye.
Putting himself in Derek Su's shoes, he figured he would already be furious by now.
However, the angry scolding he expected from Derek Su never came.
After a moment of silence, Derek Su merely sighed.
"Leon Li, Crown Club doesn't treat you very well, does it?" The corner of Derek Su's mouth curled into a sly old fox's smile, and his fingers tapped lightly on the armrest. "Look at Snowpeak. She's gotten thin following you around. You may be Crown Club's ace, but you two must have suffered quite a bit."
Leon Li froze when he heard that.
He had no idea what Derek Su meant.
Besides, did Mecha Girls not keep the same body shape all the time? Could they actually get thin from hunger?
He instinctively glanced at Snowpeak. Maybe it was because concern clouded his judgment, but he did feel that Snowpeak looked a little more worn out and thinner than before.
He just had not seen what he himself looked like. His face was pale, his lips were bluish, his steps were unsteady, and he had a pair of dark circles under his eyes.
If he were thrown into a haunted house looking like that, he could play a zombie without any makeup at all.
"Boss Su, what do you mean by that?"
Leon Li pulled his gaze away from Snowpeak and stared at Derek Su.
He could tell there was more behind Derek Su's words.
"Leon Li, what do you think of Stella Club?" Derek Su's tapping fingers stopped on the armrest, and he spread his arms. "I may not have many people or facilities here, but small as it is, it has everything it needs. The logistics team and medical team are the best, and many of the buildings are currently being expanded. You should have seen those construction sites around us that connect to Stella Club."
Leon Li's heart tightened when he heard that.
When he had come here with Snowpeak, he had indeed seen those construction sites. A large commercial district and a luxury hotel had both been demolished, but he had not thought they had anything to do with Stella Club.
But now that Derek Su had said this...
All of those places would become part of Stella Club in the future.
Adding in some of the rumors he had heard recently,
it was clear that Stella Club had a powerful conglomerate behind it, and that conglomerate was probably no weaker than the one backing Crown Club.
Whether or not a club had the support of a conglomerate was a completely different matter.
Without a conglomerate, Stella Club's future would be uncertain. But with that support, Stella Club's future would definitely not be much worse than Crown Club's.
"Stella Club is very strong."
After careful thought, Leon Li gave a fair answer.
He meant it sincerely, without the slightest hint of flattery. If Stella Club had not been impressive, he would have said so honestly. In his entire life, he had only ever lied in front of Snowpeak once, and that was when Snowpeak said he could not do it, and he told her he still could.
"Leon Li, Snowpeak, have you two ever considered coming to Stella Club?" Derek Su clasped his hands beneath his chin, his eyes narrowing slightly.
"You've seen the atmosphere in our club. There's no cutthroat ambition here. We focus on unity and friendship. Everyone has their own life and interests. Most importantly, we don't put people in confinement! As the boss, I believe the mental health of drivers and Mecha Girls is very important too... But I'm afraid no one at Crown Club cares about that, do they? That old man Ethan Yang only cares about whether you can produce results and bring him profit."
He stared fixedly at Leon Li and Snowpeak.
Had that old bastard Ethan Yang not sent Leon Li and Snowpeak to poach people from him? With Leon Li's status as an ace, if he personally went out to poach members of an ordinary club, the appeal was obvious. Stella Club was just a little special, so he had hit an iron wall...
But since that old thief Ethan Yang had done it first,
there was no problem with him poaching from Crown Club too, right?
This was called returning the favor!
Material conditions meant nothing to Leon Li and Snowpeak.
At their level, they were not short on resources at all.
They could even support themselves completely!
Crown Club had not needed to provide for them for a long time.
Because of that, the atmosphere of a club and how it treated its members had become conditions more worth considering.
Leon Li rubbed his chin.
The light in his eyes flickered uncertainly.
It was obvious that he was seriously considering Derek Su's proposal.
