The atmosphere inside the guild lobby instantly became very awkward and also silent. Dozens of pairs of eyes from the staff and adventurers in that room were now fixed on the remains of the registration desk that was shattered into a mess.
Everyone, including Calian, could only gape looking at the behavior of the Night Wolf youth. Someone who had just run amok and destroyed heavy furniture with a giant monster carcass, was now instead standing casually and smiling innocently as if nothing had happened.
Is it only because of a reward that he instead acted aggressively or is it because he who is a fighter felt underestimated just because of rank F? thought Calian trying to analyze the situation from behind his calm gaze.
His brain tried to understand the train of thought of his spouse who was sometimes impulsive. However, after thinking of several possibilities, Calian decided to sigh deeply and forget about it.
The important thing is, right now Wolvin is already back to acting calm as usual. I thought he was going to act recklessly during that debate. continued Calian in his heart, feeling a little relieved because that chaos did not become a disaster.
A few moments later, the receptionist who was shocked earlier returned to her work area which was now without a desk. Several male staff behind her swiftly began moving the Yellow Bee carcass to be secured. The beautiful woman walked approaching Calian and Wolvin bringing a new wooden tray in her hands.
"This is 15,000 Len as the reward for the two of you for that Yellow Bee." said the receptionist with a much more careful tone, while handing over the tray on which there was one medium-sized cloth pouch.
Seeing the considerably large pouch, Wolvin's eyes sparkled again. The Night Wolf youth immediately received the money and stored it inside his dimensional necklace with a satisfied feeling.
"Darling, we got the reward!" he exclaimed happily, turning his head toward his husband.
However, the happiness radiating on his face did not last long. His wolf ears dropped slightly when he realized one thing. He looked at Calian with a regretful facial expression. "I apologize because we could not accept that mission to raise our rank quickly."
"It is okay, Wolvin." replied Calian calmly, his voice flowing softly calming his spouse. "Next time, just follow the applied rules. The guild also made those rules for the safety of all adventurers."
The logical and wise reply from his husband instantly made the Night Wolf youth stunned. Calian's words made him realize that his action of forcing his will just now was very inappropriate. Guilt slowly crept into his heart, especially towards the receptionist whom he had just yelled at and intimidated.
Wolvin turned his head and looked directly at the face of the woman who still looked a bit tense. "I apologize for yelling at you." said Wolvin with a very sincere tone and his head slightly lowered. "I promise I will not make a commotion here again."
The receptionist flinched for a moment, not expecting to get such a polite apology from someone who had just thrown a monster carcass onto her desk.
"I-It is okay." replied the woman, her smile now looking much more relaxed. "I also apologize because I could not fulfill your expectation because of our system rules."
The situation in the guild lobby finally truly thawed and returned to calm. Calian also stepped forward and apologized personally to the receptionist. He asked Wolvin to take out some coins from the reward of eradicating the Yellow Bee to pay the compensation money for the desk damage caused by him.
Even though initially Wolvin was very surprised by his husband's request, he had no other choice but to give the reward money to compensate for the chaos he had caused.
After that matter was finished, the two of them left the adventurer guild building.
The day began to turn to evening when they returned to the imperial palace area.
However, just as they walked down the main hallway, Calian and Wolvin accidentally ran into Emperor Rodaz and also their mother. The two imperial high-ranking figures were seen walking with large and hurried steps, accompanied by a quite serious facial expression.
"Mother, Uncle, what happened?" asked Calian confusedly, stopping his steps. "Why do the two of you look in a hurry like that?"
Seeing the arrival of Calian and Wolvin, Emperor Rodaz and Elara's steps instantly stopped. A sigh of relief escaped the mother's lips.
"What a coincidence that the two of you have returned!" replied Elara with a relieved tone. "The two of us were just about to head to the guild to look for you."
"Looking for the two of us?" repeated Wolvin wonderingly, tilting his head. "What is the matter, Mother?"
"It is better if we talk in a closed room!" chimed in Rodaz with a heavy voice, cutting the conversation in the open area.
Calian and Wolvin nodded in agreement. Then, the four of them walked quickly toward the Emperor's private workspace.
The young married couple felt very curious along the way, guessing what things would be conveyed by their mother and also their uncle to make the atmosphere feel so tense.
Upon arriving there, they entered the room which was dominated by magnificent wooden furniture. The room door was immediately closed tight. Without wasting time, Elara raised her hand and used a high-level 'silence' magic, creating an invisible shield that blocked any sound from getting out and prevented outsiders from eavesdropping on their conversation.
After making sure the room was completely safe, Elara looked at her son and son-in-law with a very serious gaze.
"Now, I will just say it directly to the two of you!" said Elara starting the conversation, breaking the silence. "I want you to become an assassin working directly under the empire!"
Hearing their mother's request wanting the two of them to become an assassin, instantly Calian as well as Wolvin jolted in shock.
"M-Mother?" exclaimed Calian in shock, his calmness slightly shaken hearing a profession he had never imagined before. "Why do Wolvin and I have to become an assassin?"
"My sister has already told me everything!" chimed in Rodaz, taking over the conversation to answer his nephew's question. The emperor's eyes radiated an extraordinary sharpness. "Wolvin who has the [True Assassin] blessing and you who have the [Time Loop] blessing is a terrifying combination!"
Rodaz rested his hands on his work desk, staring straight at them.
"If you are the one stopping the opponent, then Wolvin is the one destroying them!" continued Rodaz enthusiastically. "You yourself can already kill someone very easily when your opponent is trapped in your time magic. But if you rely on the undetectable ability of the [True Assassin], the two of you are truly unstoppable."
Rodaz stared seriously at Calian and Wolvin alternately, ensuring the two of them realized how huge the potential of the absolute power they possessed if combined.
"There will not be a single person who realizes your presence like an angel of death who in an instant takes their lives." asserted the emperor.
"He is right, Calian, Wolvin." chimed in Elara adding, staring at the two of them seriously. "The blessing of just one of you is already very terrifying. Both of you equally cannot be detected by normal senses. Even, as someone who holds the [Supreme Archmage] blessing with sensitivity to life energy and mana, I am completely unsure if I can detect Wolvin's presence if he has already used his ability to hide the existence of his presence."
Hearing the very reasonable explanation from the two strongest people in the empire, Calian and Wolvin fell silent. They looked at each other, as if asking each other through eye signals about what big decision they would take regarding that offer.
As if understanding the doubt that might exist in their minds, Elara immediately mentioned the main offer from the empire's side.
"If it is about the payment, the Erthland Empire will pay one million Len for a noble along with their lackeys." said Elara slowly yet full of emphasis. "Or two million Len for one noble family along with their lackeys who are proven to betray that you kill!"
