Chapter 125 - The Traitor Behind the Engagement

After Alrain and Ordion made amends, the situation inside the mansion immediately became conducive to peace. The tension that had previously made the air in the room feel heavy and suffocating evaporated completely without a trace. It was replaced once again by the warmth of a family that supported one another, a bond that felt even stronger after the brief storm of conflict.

With the disagreement settled, they all stepped further into the mansion, heading toward the dining area to enjoy dinner together. Yonna, who had meticulously prepared everything in anticipation of their return, immediately invited them to sit and enjoy the feast laid out before them.

As the dinner commenced, the quiet clinking of spoons and forks against porcelain plates filled the room. It was fascinating to observe.

Alrain and Ordion, who just a few minutes ago had been embroiled in a heated argument and throwing sharp glares at each other, now acted as if nothing had happened. They casually passed side dishes back and forth and engaged in light conversation, behaving as though that intense fight had never occurred. There was no awkwardness, no lingering sarcasm, and not a single trace of resentment left on the faces of the two teenagers.

Witnessing the scene unfold before her eyes, Yonna finally began to truly understand the role Arvin played as their husband.

She chewed her food in silence while continuing to observe the interaction between the three of them. She could see quite clearly the immense love and respect his three spouses held for him. They were so incredibly obedient whenever their husband spoke. Arvin's words were never a frightening force or a heavy command. Instead, they were a form of guidance that brought a sense of peace to everyone around him.

Arvin is truly an extraordinary husband! Yonna mused in admiration. Her gaze lingered on the handsome young man sitting calmly at the head of the table, enjoying his meal. With just a gentle touch on their heads and a voice that sounded soft yet firm, he had restored them to their usual selves. None of them brought up the fight again, as if it were merely a fleeting nightmare that had passed and was no longer worth remembering.

I finally understand... Yonna continued in her heart, slowly shifting her gaze toward her younger brother, who was currently laughing at something Allen had said. It is no wonder my brother so loyal to Arvin. It turns out it is not just my brother. Allen and Ordion also love and admire their husband unconditionally.

Without her realizing it, the feelings within Yonna's heart were growing stronger. Her admiration and affection for Arvin deepened with every passing moment.

In her eyes, the blue-haired teenager was not just a powerful figure who had provided them with a place to live. Aside from being affectionate and firm, Arvin cared for his family with absolute fairness. Not a single spouse was favored excessively or ignored, everyone received an equal portion of his love and his discipline. It was this kind of leadership within the family that made Yonna feel incredibly safe and comfortable.

However, in the midst of that peaceful dinner atmosphere, one thing suddenly crossed Yonna's mind. A fragment of a story from the past that her brother had mentioned earlier began to pique her curiosity.

"Alrain?" Yonna called out suddenly, her voice breaking through the light chatter at the table and causing her brother to stop chewing and turn toward her.

"Yes, Sister? What's up?" Alrain answered casually.

Yonna looked into her brother's eyes with a slightly serious expression. "I am curious about something." she replied. "You mentioned that in the previous life, I was already engaged. Who exactly was the person I was engaged to back then?"

Alrain took a napkin and wiped the corners of his mouth before answering. "His name was Karel." Alrain answered honestly, sharing what he knew of that era. "You knew him because he worked as one of the staff members at the merchant guild, just like us. Why do you ask?"

Upon hearing the name Alrain had just uttered, Arvin immediately stopped his movements. The teenager looked straight at the two siblings and then, without any preamble, interrupted their conversation.

"No wonder your sister became a victim of the murder ritual performed by Dalvanel."

Arvin's words, which sounded like a cold and terrifying fact, instantly shifted the atmosphere at the dining table. Both Alrain and Yonna spontaneously turned to look at Arvin with wide eyes. Allen and Ordion also fell silent, sensing the sudden change in the air around the table.

"What do you mean by that, My Love?" Alrain asked curiously, his brow furrowing sharply. An uneasy feeling began to settle in his gut. "Did he have something to do with my sister's death at that time?"

"Of course!" Arvin answered quickly and without a shred of doubt. His eyes stared intensely at Alrain. "Because he was Dalvanel's most loyal right-hand man. It's highly likely that he only approached your sister to carry out his master's orders."

Hearing the answer that came from Arvin's mouth, Alrain and Yonna were beyond shocked. Yonna's body felt frozen. The realization that the man who had once promised to marry her in the past life was actually the person who led her to her death made her skin crawl.

However, for Arvin, this was not a mere lie or a random guess. Based on his knowledge of the plot from 'BL Game: The Sign of Destiny', the character named Karel was indeed the right hand and the loyal spy serving King Dalvanel.

Alrain's hands on top of the table began to clench tightly. His eyes reflected a sense of disbelief that slowly transformed into a very dense, dark anger.

"S-So, all of it was planned just to turn my sister into a sacrifice for that insane ritual?" Alrain cut in, his voice sounding deeply shaken after learning the bitter truth about his sister's fiancé. His teeth grinded together as he tried to hold back the overflowing emotion.

Alrain lowered his head, his breathing becoming heavy and ragged.

"And to think, I had intended to search for him so that he could be engaged to my sister again." he continued, but this time his voice trembled slightly as he fought back an immense rage. "After hearing what you said, I want nothing more than to kill him. I almost handed my own sister back into the hands of that bastard."
