Alrain and Ordion simultaneously turned to look at Allen's face. They stared at the pink-haired teenager intently, as if searching for a lie, but all they found was absolute tranquility. They seemed to ask for honesty directly from him.
"Our husband is telling the truth." Allen said, responding to the skeptical stares of his two companions. He offered a small smile. "I indeed have drunk them. However, the effect of the 'Elixir of Archmage' will make you faint a few moments after you drink it, because your body must adjust to the extraordinary surge in mana capacity."
Hearing the confirmation from Allen, the eyes of Alrain, Ordion, and Yonna widened even further. The fact that one of them was already an immortal entity with high-level magical power was truly difficult for their logic to process.
"D-Did our husband drink both of these elixirs too?" Alrain asked suddenly, his mind starting to link Arvin's terrifying strength to the bottles on the table. "Is it because of these elixirs that our husband became so strong and invincible?"
Allen shook his head slowly, dismissing Alrain's assumption. "He only drank the 'Elixir of Immortality'. As for his strength... the power he possesses has been terrifying from the very beginning. He doesn't need that purple elixir to increase his power."
The dining room immediately fell silent. The atmosphere felt frozen after they learned the fact that Arvin was already incredibly strong even without drinking the insane power-boosting elixirs currently presented on the table.
"If he were to drink that elixir..." Allen continued, his voice breaking the silence, "...our husband's strength might be many times greater than it is now. His current strength alone is probably about thirty times stronger than you, Alrain."
Allen looked at his husband's handsome face with pure adoration, then looked back at his companions. "Just imagine if he drank that elixir, how great would his strength be then? He could probably destroy half of this world with a single snap of his fingers."
Ordion swallowed hard. His mind was still trying to process all the information coming in succession.
"T-Then, why did our husband become immortal?" Ordion asked, his curiosity overcoming his shock. He desperately wanted to know the deep reason behind his husband's decision to take immortality, a curse for some, but a blessing for others.
"He simply wants to see our cute faces smiling forever." Allen answered, looking at Alrain and Ordion in turn with a very soft gaze. "He wants to always be with us forever in this world without anyone being separated, especially by death, be it from severe illness or old age."
Ordion's heart felt warm hearing such a romantic and affectionate reason. However, Allen was not finished speaking.
"But remember!" Allen said suddenly, his expression turning very serious. "This 'Elixir of Immortality' only makes us youthful and immune to diseases or poisons. You can still die if your heart is fatally pierced, if your head is decapitated, or if your body is crushed to pieces!"
The explanation coming from Allen's mouth sounded very sweet because it was based on love, yet on the other hand, it was also terrifying as it brought the reality of death that could still lurk. Especially for Alrain.
The phrase about a life being lost instantly triggered something in Alrain's head. The green-haired teenager had deep trauma regarding the concept of immortality. It was that insane concept that had caused his sister to be kidnapped and tragically killed just to be a sacrifice for King Dalvanel's ritual in his previous life.
Alrain's face turned pale instantly. His eyes stared blankly at the golden liquid swirling inside the bottle.
"My Love..." Alrain said, his voice now trembling not from wonder, but from fear. Memories of the past surged back, showing blood and the horrifying ritual process at the sacrificial altar performed by the cruel king.
Did my husband also do something as wild as that just to get this golden liquid? Alrain's heart struggled.
He looked straight into his husband's eyes. "Did you sacrifice many innocent people just to make this immortality elixir?"
The question slipped out just like that, carrying the pain of the past. Yonna, sitting across the table, also held her breath, feeling horrified at the possibility.
"Of course not, Alrain!" Arvin answered without a single pause, his voice firm and absolute, cutting through all the doubt in his spouse's heart. "I know very well that you had a bad experience and trauma regarding things related to immortality. I would also never dirty my hands in such a lowly manner."
Arvin looked into Alrain's eyes intently, providing calm through his gaze. "This elixir was given to me for free by someone in the past, as a thank you because I was willing to bury their body properly."
Alrain let out a long breath, but there was still a spark of doubt in his heart. A miracle this great rarely came without a heavy price.
"Are you sure that person gave you this insane elixir just because you buried their remains?" Alrain asked again, ensuring there was no hidden curse behind the gift.
"Yes!" Arvin answered, still without pause and full of conviction. "Even if I wanted to make it myself, I could make it with rare materials. And I wouldn't need to sacrifice many lives like Dalvanel did. My alchemy magic is also far beyond such filthy rituals. And it just so happens that right now, I want to utilize that elixir for another purpose!"
"Utilize?" Ordion repeated, his brow furrowing in confusion as he listened to his husband's plan, which was always one step ahead.
"Yes, utilize it!" Arvin asserted, his gaze now turning very sharp and dangerous. "Just imagine if Dalvanel needed thousands of blood sacrifices over the years just to find a crack in immortality, while I can have it without sacrificing a single life and only using alchemy magic. How would he feel if he found out about this? That is when I want to bait him. I will use this elixir as bait to draw him, who is obsessed with immortality, out of his nest."
"What exactly do you want to do to that madman?" Alrain asked to be sure. He desperately wanted to know his husband's plan for the man who had destroyed his life in the past.
"You will find out later." Arvin answered, followed by a mysterious smile on his lips. It was a smile that let anyone know bad luck was waiting for the king.
Arvin then swept his gaze, looking at Alrain and Ordion with total tenderness. "For now, put aside the matter of Dalvanel. Are you two willing to drink that elixir right now, and promise to always stay by my side forever?"
"Of course I want to!" Ordion answered without a moment's hesitation. His eyes sparkled with pure love and devotion. "Because from the beginning, I decided to be yours! I only want to always be with you, My Dear. I am not afraid of anything as long as I am beside you."
Unlike Ordion who agreed immediately, Alrain instead fell silent for a moment. He did not give an answer right away. The green-haired teenager turned his face and looked at his sister, Yonna, who sat silently with a mixed expression on her face.
Arvin saw that look and perfectly understood the fear being felt by his second spouse. The fear of living forever while his only blood family would grow old, get sick, and eventually die, leaving him all alone.
"If only your sister were a male, I would gladly make her immortal like me." Arvin said, breaking the silence and answering the concern swirling within his spouse's mind. He spoke very honestly about his principles. "I would also not hesitate to make your sister my spouse if she were indeed a male."
Hearing the firm boundary from his husband, who indeed only accepted males as his spouses, Alrain swallowed hard. He could not let his sister die of old age while he continued to live eternally.
"Can you make her immortal without making her your wife?" Alrain chimed in suddenly. His voice was pleading, reflecting how heavy it felt for him to accept the gift of immortality if it meant he had to lose his sister, who would one day surely die from being consumed by age.
