"Let's go to the hospital first," Victor Morgan said.
As he spoke, his gaze drifted down to Jessie Sterling's stomach.
Jessie felt his gaze and followed it down. Her brow furrowed. "What are you doing? What are you thinking?"
Victor took Jessie's hand and wrapped his other arm around her shoulders, holding her in a completely protective embrace. "What do you think?"
He didn't say it outright, but he was sure Jessie knew what he was implying.
"Impossible," Jessie blurted out without a second thought.
The moment she noticed Victor's gaze landing on her stomach, whether intentionally or not, Jessie had already guessed what he was thinking.
But what Victor was thinking now was definitely not what she wanted.
Besides, she and Victor had been so careful. There was no way an accident like this could have happened.
"It's probably just an upset stomach, or I caught a cold. Don't read too much into it," Jessie said.
