The dumplings had thin wrappers and generous fillings, and they tasted fresh and succulent.
Lucas Lee downed two plates in one go, still not quite satisfied. "They're gone already? I haven't had nearly enough."
Cecilia Adler hesitated for a second. "There's one more bowl in the kitchen."
'Once these dumplings are gone, I won't have to think about Ian Quincy anymore.'
"Save them for Vivian." Lucas Lee glanced at the pitch-black sky. "That girl is nothing but trouble, always threatening to run away. I'm going out to look for her." 'What if that scoundrel Felix tricks her and gets her pregnant? Then we'd be completely at his mercy.'
May Sutton's anger had mostly subsided by this point. "I'll go with you."
The two of them put down their chopsticks and left.
Cecilia Adler stopped him. "Dad, about that reimbursement..."
"You think I'd short you?"
"You promised."
