After Mr. Quincy entered the restaurant with someone, Cecilia Adler quietly slipped away. She figured she would just be idle at home, so she might as well go to the outskirts again.
She gathered a bucket of river clams there and went to find Master Chapman again, relaying what her father-in-law had said about the clams the day before.
Master Chapman was reluctant to accept them. "This stuff... the fishy smell is hard to get rid of, and not many people eat them. No matter how delicious you make them, they can't compete with other types of seafood."
Cecilia Adler said, "Why not try serving it to one table and see how it goes? Or you could offer it as a complimentary dish to your big spenders. If customers start asking for it by name, you can come find me. I can supply a hundred or two hundred pounds. If you don't want them, I'll just keep them for myself."
"Alright," Master Chapman agreed.
Just as Cecilia Adler was about to leave, he called out to her. "Hang on, miss."
