After a long silence, Ian Quincy gave a nearly imperceptible nod. "Mm."
After a quick cleanup, the two of them returned to the family courtyard.
His older brother's children were making a racket, but they quieted down immediately upon seeing Ian Quincy. Some ran to their rooms, while others dove into Mrs. Quincy's embrace.
"Why are you so scared of your uncle?" Mrs. Quincy was delighted. "Have you eaten?"
Ian Quincy replied, "Who hasn't eaten by this time? And if we hadn't, wouldn't you just say my wife isn't taking good care of me?"
Mrs. Quincy's smile froze. "That's not what I meant. Your older brother brought back a lot of apples the other day. I'll get you some."
"No need. My wife will buy them for me."
