Cecilia Adler was too embarrassed to speak.
Ian Quincy was quite calm. "Hello, ma'am. We just got back. Did you just get off work?"
"Yes, things have been incredibly busy at work lately. Your father said you were home studying for the college entrance exam. How's that going?"
"It's alright," Ian said.
"In that case, you'd be better off with a stable job. You've already put in ten years and built up seniority. That's a huge advantage for your career options," the neighbor advised, adopting the tone of an elder.
Ian Quincy gave a noncommittal nod. "I'll think about it."
The three of them went upstairs together.
Then they went to their respective homes.
Once the door was closed, Cecilia Adler took off her hat and scarf.
Ian Quincy's gaze fixed on her. "Why is your hair wet?"
