Cecilia Adler went home to change into a clean set of clothes and shoes. She split the wild garlic into two portions and brought one over to the Quincys'.
Her in-laws were both home.
Mrs. Quincy, disheartened by Christal Russell's recent comments, was making an effort to grow closer to Cecilia, so her attitude toward her was exceptionally warm. "Cecilia, you're here! What did you bring?"
Cecilia had her excuse ready. "Some relatives from my family's hometown sent over some wild garlic, and I brought a little for you."
"Wild garlic?" Mr. Quincy said. "Even though it's spring, it's still cold. It's truly rare to find wild garlic at this time."
'If it weren't rare, how would it demonstrate my thoughtfulness?' Cecilia thought.
"I heard your sister is getting engaged tomorrow?"
"That's right. Will you be attending her engagement party as well?"
