"Okay," Cecilia Adler agreed. She didn't plan on staying for long, and after some small talk, she took out a book to pass the time.
Just then, two train attendants entered the compartment. Ian Quincy assumed they were there to swap tickets and was about to grab his, but the two men simply bent down to look under the berth.
After they left,
Cecilia Adler looked up and covered her mouth to whisper, "Those two looked like they were searching for something. Did someone lose a bag?" She pointed a delicate finger toward the upper berth. "Our bags are just sitting right out in the open. They won't get stolen while we sleep, will they?"
'There aren't any valuables in them, but there's a lot of food.'
'Besides the flatbread and beef sauce...'
'...we also have a good amount of dried noodles.'
'If you add it all up, it wasn't cheap.'
