As luck would have it, their neighbor Aunt Sims happened to see the scene. "Well now, what's all this?"
Aunt Gable's face burned with shame. She lowered her head, not saying a word, wishing she could disappear.
Cecilia glanced over. "Who knows? Maybe she's having a nervous breakdown."
Hearing the term "nervous breakdown," Aunt Sims also felt awkward. Not long ago, she had told Cecilia that Ian was jealous, violent, and had something wrong with his head. Now, every time she thought back on it, she wanted to slap herself across the face. 'What kind of person with something wrong in the head could get into a university,' she thought, 'let alone the prestigious University of Valoria?'
She changed the subject. "Have you received Ian's acceptance letter yet?"
Cecilia: "Not yet."
"When you hold a celebration feast, don't forget to invite me," Aunt Sims said with an ingratiating smile.
