Nanny Wallace said, "Cecilia, that's no way to talk."
"Walter started it by badmouthing my boyfriend. Now we're even. This is between us younger ones, so you'd best not get involved." Cecilia Adler winked, putting on a playful act.
Nanny Wallace was left speechless.
"It's getting late, we should get going." After saying goodbye to Charlotte Dalton, Cecilia Adler left with Ian Quincy.
'What a shame,' Walter Warren thought. 'If my wrist didn't hurt from that fall, I would have definitely made Ian stay and gotten my hands on his watch.'
Charlotte Dalton reluctantly saw the two of them off. "Cecilia, when will you come again?"
"Probably not until next year."
"What's your address? I'll write to you."
Cecilia Adler told her the address. "Did you get that?"
"Got it." Charlotte Dalton walked them all the way to the village entrance before turning back.
Back at the house, the family began eating the pastries Cecilia Adler had brought.
