Cecilia Adler quietly listened to the neighborhood chatter before walking over. "Hello, ladies."
"Oh, hello there. Have you eaten dinner yet?"
"Not yet." Cecilia Adler gestured to the groceries in her bike's front basket. "We're about to."
"Your mother-in-law said Ian got his acceptance letter! What's it look like? Let us have a peek."
Cecilia Adler smiled. 'My mother-in-law sure is fast with the news,' she thought. 'We only just got the letter, and everyone here already knows.' "We were afraid we might lose it, so we didn't bring it with us."
"Why not? Everyone's been waiting to see it."
Cecilia Adler recited the contents from memory.
"So what do you do with a degree in that?"
"I don't know." Cecilia Adler had no idea.
