Back at the small workshop.
Cecilia Adler could faintly hear Sam Holden howling. He was probably in unbearable pain, demanding his parents take him to see a doctor.
"It's just a superficial wound, right?" she analyzed worriedly. "If he were seriously hurt, someone would have definitely called the police. Then the police would start questioning the neighbors, and if they expose my business, the loss would outweigh the gain."
Ian Quincy answered with certainty, "I've got it under control."
Cecilia felt reassured now and rested easy.
The next day, after her lesson with Teacher Kent, she went straight to the Shaw family's house to find Ian Quincy.
He heard her voice and hurried downstairs, the bangs on his forehead damp with sweat, adding a hint of wild charm to his handsome features.
"Honey, you're here."
Cecilia Adler smiled sweetly at him. "Mhm. Look at you, all sweaty." She took out the handkerchief she always carried and handed it to him.
