Cecilia Adler found a pole and used it to paddle the bag toward the shore. Once it was close, she reached down to haul it up.
It was dead heavy.
'What amazing find could this be?'
She opened the bag and was met with the sight of the top of a person's head. The scalp was swollen and pale from being soaked in water.
She froze on the spot in terror.
After a long moment, a sound finally escaped her throat.
AHHH!!!
A dead body!
Ian Quincy, who had been focused on the water, looked up at the sound. He saw Cecilia Adler running toward him, the color drained from her normally rosy face.
Cecilia Adler crashed into his arms like a whirlwind. "A dead body! It scared me to death! Scared me to death!"
Ian's gaze followed the direction she had come from, landing on the bulging sack on the ground. "Don't be afraid, don't be afraid. I'm here." He patted her back gently, comforting her.
Hearing the commotion, the people nearby gathered to see what was happening.
