The Sterling's living room was filled with the pitiful sobs of Joy Dalton and her daughter, Sharon Sterling.
Mrs. Sterling's expression was grim, and the crying in the living room was giving her a splitting headache.
"Ahem!" Mrs. Sterling coughed twice, then looked grimly at the grand-uncles. "Eldest Brother, Third Brother, our family has wronged you today. To think we could produce someone so vicious."
Sharon Sterling's body went rigid. She knew Mrs. Sterling's words, "so vicious," were aimed at her.
"When one of my own causes trouble, I prefer to handle it privately," Mrs. Sterling said in a low voice to the two grand-uncles and their families. "You've been here a long while. Everything has been said and done. Isn't it time for you to go home?"
The grand-uncle and third grand-uncle froze. The old woman was kicking them out. The two old men looked awkward. Although they agreed there was no point in staying, wasn't it a bit too disrespectful to be dismissed so directly?
