After breakfast, the children all went to school. Unwilling to look at Joy Dalton a moment longer, Mrs. Sterling went straight back to her room. Only Joy Dalton and Timothy Sterling, who was sipping strong tea, were left in the dining room.
"Timothy, your mother is still very upset with me," Joy Dalton said, her expression mournful.
Timothy Sterling set down his teacup and pulled Joy Dalton into a comforting embrace. "Joy, you have to understand my mother. After what Sharon did, she can't take it out on a child, so she can only vent her anger on you. Don't worry, I've already explained everything to her. I'm sure that in time, she'll naturally come to see what kind of person you really are."
"I hope so..." Joy Dalton nodded sorrowfully. "I don't want to make things difficult for you. I want our family to live in peace and harmony. I've truly been trying my best."
