Mrs. Sterling didn't believe a word Joy Dalton said. The more virtuous and proper Joy acted, the more hypocritical Mrs. Sterling found her to be.
"You don't have to put on an act for me. Timothy isn't home, so he won't see any of this!" Mrs. Sterling said coldly, glaring at Joy Dalton from the corner of her eye.
Joy Dalton lowered her head, silently grinding her teeth. In her mind, she was tearing Mrs. Sterling to shreds, but on the outside, she could only lower her gaze submissively and continue to play the victim.
Mrs. Sterling couldn't be bothered to look at her, muttering, "I have no idea what that Timothy is doing. He's still not home!"
Joy Dalton forced a smile. "Timothy said he had a very important business function. I suppose it hasn't ended yet."
